This is my first point made all the way from a spall. Learning direct percussion has been tough. I have a lot of thick preforms and ones with massive hinges or steps. This rock was actually one I had set aside because I wasn't doing well with it and I picked it up yesterday after I broke a different one and started working through it and kept at it. I kept my head the whole time and made good decisions. There is a bulge at the base on one side and that made my notch bottom out so I turned it into a stemmed point. This is heat treated Burlington I found and heated myself.

Nice work. Looks a lot better than my first.

That’s great Allyn.
Really cool you did everything from picking the stone. To spalling, heat treating and flint knapping.
Keep at it. As you said. Keep your head. Try not to get frustrated and work at solving the problems.
Well done

Thank you, it's been a big learning experience trying to get direct percussion down. I think I'm starting to understand it a little better. Just gonna keep breaking up rocks trying to improve.

Thank you guys. Yes soy about the only time i do Knapp is in the cab of my concrete mixer at work. Eventually I'm going to have a very strange knapping form from swinging around the steering wheel lol.

Give em a decade and they won’t have a steering wheel.
