What methods do you guys use foy signing, and marking bows? I have attempted super fine tip sharpie under the finish, but that is about as much as i have done. Thanks... Ty

Paint pen over the first coat so it can be removed if I mess it up without sanding into the wood.

I've started using India ink with a quill pen. Over the first coat, like Jesse, but so it doesn't bleed on the raw wood then 5 or 6 coats over that. Pat

Paint pen here too. But I learned the hard way to buy the finest tip out there.

yup sharpie paint pen. kinda tricky to get the hang of it, so practice on a scrap of wood or something first.

I use a fine point calligraphy pen and archival white ink from the local craft store(Hobby Lobby). The ink is acrylic, you can wipe off your mistakes with a wet paper towel. Being water soluble, coats of normal finishes over it don't cause it to run. I never get it right the first time so I like having the ability to wipe it off and start over. I put 3 or 4 coats of Tru Oil over the lettering to keep it from wearing off. I like white on osage because the darker the osage gets, the more your lettering stands out.

Black Sharpie on light wood, white paint pen on dark wood.

Fine point Sharpie over Spar urethane, or under the wax/grease, depending on the finish I settle on.

personnaly i dont like writing on my bows, i only do it when i make one for someone else and i'll ask them if its necessary.some want it,some could care less
i know what the bow length and weight is when im finished with the bow.

I've been thinking about this myself.....and I might try burning the lettering into the wood......need to break out the pyrograhpy stuff I've got in storage....
The white ink looks pretty good, though.
