Hi guys, its been a while since i haven't posted a bow here and i said i should change this. I worked this days due to Corona lockdown on some new bows and i also had my try on a new design that iv wanted to try for a long time, inspired by Simon Siess, a bow maker that lives here in Germany and this is how the final result looks like. The HLD comes from hollow limb design and the first one that tried that was Simon..i saw that bow some time ago here on PA for the first time and now came the time to give it a try. The wood is Elder, the limbs are 1 and a half inch wide and it tapers to 1inch about 4 inches away from the tips and then it goes down to a quarter of an inch at the Nocks. The bow is 65inches NTN and it weights 16,5 ounces. IT draws 40lbs around 28". IT was really fun to make and I'm really happy with the result.

Great job! Looks very good to me.
Would like to see a better fd pic (orthogonal and aa arrow nocked).
If you have a chrony, let us know the speed.
I have got very good results with elder in this design.

Thank you for the nice words. Yes Simon I'm living in Germany in Schwetzingen to be more exact. I did lived in Munchen when i first came to Germany in 2014. I dont have a chrono but i can feel the power of the bow when i put the string on him. I used a 10 strands string from a lighter osage biw that i have wich is actually shorter then what i need for this bow but i just wanted to see how it looks with a normal string and not the tillering string wich is being used making the FD picture and the bow just stretched that string so much that the bracehight if the bow was shorter with half an inch from what i usualy have on my bows. So i quess it must be a fast one. I always say i will buy a chrono but somehow i never manage to do so hahaha. Its dificult with taking FD pictures . I'm doing this all by my self and my mobile phone stays on a shelf on the wall and its always a luck thing if the oicture is decent or not.

High level of craftsmanship in this one - Well executed! How do you hollow the limb? I'm assuming gouges of some sort. The tiller is great - Nice work!

Thank you...besides draw knife,.i used a gouge but not the full U shape..its only slightly curved and a goose neck scraper. After that the surface of the wood was quite nice and i only used sandpaper 120, 240, 400, 600 grit. And to tiller the bow, i just floor tillered the bow up to the point where i felt its safe to brace him and thenn i looked for the stiff spots and a fiew times i did some selfies with my mobile drawing the bow only few inches and i draw it further when i saw it looks good on the pictures. I dont have the possibility anymore.to use a pulley system and i dont like to use.a tiller stick...i rather use the mobile phone to check the tiller.😊

You should use a ff string - not a stretchy dacron. BCY 425x is a good choice, 2x 3 strands is enough.

Amazing looking bow. Especially for not having a tiller tree, and no help taking photos. You must really have a lot of patience, and a true feel for the wood.

Beautiful bow. I use my cellphone for tillering also and always found it challenging to get just the right angles up, down and sideways, using a timer and taking pictures. Finally just started shooting a video, changing angles a bit as I draw, watch the video, pause, then take a screenshot. Works great.
