I think Jim uses conveyor belt. I've seen guys use everything from carpet scraps to braintan.

hey bubby i gotta ask
why the antl with the copper cap on the end of it?
-
Not to awnser the question for him but im makeing boppers with antler grips as well looks cool
-
It's a bopper, probably shoulda used it for knife handles, it's amassing what you will do when you're bored, Bub

ya i knew it was a bopper/billet
the reason i asked is cause each work great on their own
copper and antler
i have copper boppers and paddles, also have moose and white tail billets and flakers
but i aint never seen anyone put the two together
it just struke me as odd, thats all ;)

I have allot of mid section antler from elk sheds and such that I wanted to make use of, thats why im going to use the antler and it looks cool ;D. But im makeing bopper handles from antler yew and ocean spray as well. Im useing the skulls with antlers i have found for antler boppers becuse I can cut them closer to the skull for a harder bopper. If you dont mind me asking in what situation would the antler bopper be better used over the copper bopper and vise versa? Thanks

for me the antler works better on things like obsidion, dacite, novaculite, keokuk
and the copper works better on things like rhyolite, kentucky blue, coral etc
but im not a real experienced knapper as of yet, only been knapping a couple of years now
and havent had a real lot of varieties of rock
i live in minnesota and have to buy/trade for all my rock so i dont get to try all that many differant ones

Thanks dad
