nce purty good there sir.
-
Good lookin' points, Dana.
-
Nice work Dana. I think you been getting pointers. Justin
-
Dana: Good start!! Do you mind if I ask what tools you used? I might be able to send something you can use with the elk horns. Watcher
-
Copper presure flakers and a 1/2" copper bopper, these were flakes and didn't require much percussion work.
Now I'm trying to spin up a fire with a hand drill rick t sent me, more fun eh :D
-
prepare for blisters buddy. nice work on the heads. it amazes me how people are starting out with stuff and its really nice. when i first started my stuff was pure crap.
-
jamie I have a long way to go, in my opinion pressure flaking is the easy part, I can take a big chunk of obsidian and reduve it to splinters in about 6 whacks 8)
I will be hafting the bird points up and using em, might even shoot em at a deer :o
-
Nice points Dana, They look really good. I really got to get my Knappin on.
-
Nice work Dana. Beware of Damp Scraps.... ;D
-
I was careful to pick up the ones that wern't brown ;)
-
Good looking points Dana, eh! ;)
-
Copenhagen is organic and biodegradable. Just don't pick up flakes if you've seen Eddie standing there for a few minutes and they are damp and yellow. :)
-
Them are some purdy good lookin points there Dana - looks like we about got you converted from steel to stone ;D. Don't stop making knives just yet though, I'm gonna trade ya outa one of them one of these days 8).
-
Any time Paul, steel knife fer a stone knife, even stevens eh ;D
-
You got it - I can't trade the one I bloodied on the deer, will have to get to work on another :).
-
Here's a few more I managed the black ones are from slag I found and the green is from another piece of
the rhyolite I picked up at Pappy's

-
Them's crude, but deffinantly points - gotta start somewhere eh? Before ya know it you'll be making points that'll kill anything ;D.
-
Paul, stick those on an arrow and they will kill somethin. What? I have no idea! >:D
-
Ya I have a ways to go paul ;) I've been working on a half bucket of scraps I picked
up in the pit at Pappy's. Its good experience and the different types of rock all break different.
I have some bigger stuff but why waste it when I use what you guys considered trash eh :)
-
Dana, at least you're trying...I'm afraid to start that for fear I'll like it. To many bows to build and to little time at the moment. John Thomas spent the day Saturday at the club and made several points, one of which he gave me. ;) He's very talented knapper and is getting back into it since he got fired up at the Classic. His hands gives him some trouble though...

That's where I started Dana. I'd pick up some flakes on job and pressure flake the edges till my hands locked up on me and my fingers bled - sheer determination, hehe. I've probably got a hundred of em scattered all through my cactus garden. You learn a little something every time ya work on one..
