got up early. have this terrible head cold, needed to feel better so i grabbed up a small piece of quartzite type rock. made a small point. its difficult to work. then i seen a nice tan flint /chert type spall. hmmm i thought now that looks pretty. had a bulb on one side so i had to thin it out first , then knap it till i got the cortex off, or most of it, then knap it to a leaf blade, then sharpen up the edges and notch it with a flaker.just a couple 5 min. jobs here. o.k. o.k. 10 minutes. lol Tony

funny the day I hand the flu was the day I started really trying to learn.

Nice! I've been wanting to make a start at learning ABO but I got chicken fever I guess.
just sickening.
-
Nice! The harder to work stone is Hixton and the tan stuff is Pedernales.
-
wish i could find tons of that later stuff. beautiful stone. thanks very much.Tony

Nice work....

a few more, im 5 for 4 now. {5 points, 4 pieces of stone. 1 broke in half as i was making a bigger point.} :) Tony
-
the two on the left started out as one bigger one but broke in half, so i improvised.Tony

^^ i think you're working the same stuff i got from Bowmo ;)
there are some challenging flakes in there.
keep up the good work.

this morning my cold seems better. im off work the next 3 days so of course my body says "hey wake up super early". lol sooo, since laying in the bed for a hour didnt bore me back to sleep i started thinking on tools. stone tools. then i got to thinking about a piece of flint in that box that was screaming "make me a arrow making tool!" so i dug it out, as i was doing so i seen a few "bow building tools" a couple scrapers. one i might make into a small adze if i can find a suitable handle. sooo i ended up making two flat scrapers, a arrow making tool that is a multi tool. can you see all the different tools in it? a small drill bit from a flake i removed from one of the scrapers. i need something for drilling tiny holes :) and a awl from another piece that knapped off making that adze/scraper. no waste here. i bet so far after all these tools and those points ive made so far that teeny tiny chips is all that has been put in the waste basket. anyhow heres a picture.
-
that arrow making tool on the bottom right has a awl/engraver,arrow scraper/planer/ debarker, knife, notch cutting saw {so now i can use it as well as my shell saws i made, and i tried it out on some shafts whooohoo what a great tool it is! }. all it needs is a red plastic handle with a white cross on it. lol
looking that arrow making tool over, i bet if i notched the end, i could tie a piece of cordage to it to carry around. maybe like a necklass? hmmmm
well notching it worked out nice. just need to make up some cordage for a necklass. thinking on building a small tight fitting pouch/sheath to slip over it so it cant cut me when i carry it. :) its been a very good morning glad i drug myself out of bed. Tony
-
pouch for that arrow making tool.now i just need a cordage necklass.made from American Elm cambium.Tony
-
^^ neat.
i see you notched it too.
-
yes, to tie on the "necklace". the pouch is just a sheath that slides on and stays on due to friction between the tool and the sheath. its a tight fit. :) if i lost the sheath, fine i can make another. but i dont want to loose that tool. so tied around my neck it will stay.lol Tony
