Nice arrows! Do those have several footings?
Sean
-
Thanks Sean! Negative on the footing's - just one of osage. The black and red are primitive marks a lot ;D.
-
Look's real good ,Paul, nice Ammo ;D
-
I likes em ;D Joe H
-
Dang Paul, You make your arrows not only functional but purdee too! 8)
Chewing sinew works pretty good don't it. Like old bubble gum. ;D Pat
-
Thanks! Eddie, Joe, Pat - Yep, kinda like old gum - you gotta work the moisture into it :-X ;D.
-
Nice arras. I hope they fly tru.
-
look great
-
Nice job Paul, I think you will like them a lot when you get to shoot them. I would bet they shoot good. I find the cane to be tolerant of spine, My wood shafts need to spine at 65-70# but the cane shoots good at 80-100# plus. I have another home made target point that works perfect with cane and bamboo shafts, will make some up for you before the classic. Kenneth
-
SWEET! Great lookin' arrows, you done that cane proud. I've got a set I've been working on too, just need to put points on 'em-pics coming in the next couple days. Oh, and I like the taste of sinew myself, catch myself chewing on it sometimes when I'm not even making arrows. ;D
-
Thanks Jonathan, Hunter :).
Man, I appreciate that Kenneth! I would have never thought of a point like the type you have on your classic arrows. Will be interesting to see what you came up with for cain shafts :).
You got it Steve - I can see that that stuff could get a little addicting ;D. I was kinda enjoying the flavor there toward the end ;D..
-
Lookin sweet Cowboy. But what do ya mean ??? (But at least I got some ammo) Are ya expecting a Civil War to break out ;D I heard them big rubber blunts work good for the reinactments. :D
-
Keenan: I just hate goin somewhere without somthing ;D. I hope civil war don't break out - if it does, I'm headed up the creek ;D...
-
Great looking arrows. I don't think I would shoot those pretty things at Pippy's place. He has some kind of voodoo stuff that makes arrows get lost in the underbrush. Justin
-
very nice arrows. i like the cresting. wonder how the mix of goose and turkey will affect the flight. please keep us posted an their performance.
-
Look like they will work to me Paul, I made 13 up for the Classic down to 11 already :(
If we run out I bet we could stage a midnight raid on Pat B's encampment and liberate a few >:D
-
I like the target points I make for cane arrows but don't use them too much as mostly I will use trade points or stone. They work without needing a foreshaft and are very classy. I will let you guess for a week, see ya there. kenneth
-
Kenneth, I have one cane arrow made up with one of your cane practice points. It works great! Pat
-
Justin, if these fly anything like the golf balls I've hit - I'll be beating the brush day and night :D. I'll keep an eye on that Marius, but the only thing I have to compare to is buzzard. Arra making is new to me like most all of this stuff - I just hope I can get a shooter or two out of the bunch ::).
Figure if we loose all of ours the first day Dana - everyone would be glad to give up a few of their own so we can keep on shootin >:D ;D..
-
Yea, Cowboy. Keep thinking that! I wouldn't bet the ranch if I were you. ;) Pat
-
What happened to the Southern Hospitality i've heard so much about ??? ::) ;)
-
I guess you are gonna find out! ;D ;) Pat
-
Dana - looks like that liberation thing you were talking about may be our best course of action :D ;D.
-
We will just ply him with moonshine and after he's down we can go shopping, bet he has other stuff we could use >:D
-
OH please don't make me drink that devil's brew! ::) Pat
-
Justin, if these fly anything like the golf balls I've hit - I'll be beating the brush day and night :D.
You know what they say, "It takes a lot of balls to golf like I do." ;D
We will just ply him with moonshine and after he's down we can go shopping, bet he has other stuff we could use >:D
You are going to need a new tactic. I saw Pat with that stuff last year. He was still the last one concious. Now if you can get out of bed at 5:00 AM you only have to deal with Pappy. Justin
-
Justain 5 AM is my normal wake up time ;D Of course I am usually in bed at 9 or 10 :o ::)
Ahh well I'm sure I can sneak in during daylight and borrow a few ::) :P
-
Pat, I'll watch your back while you pass that 'shine to me. I'll be shooting Art Butner Primo's. They will be guarded well.

Nice to know where the primo arra's are gonna be eddie ;) Oh yea I have a gallon of Arno's #1 on order should be there late friday ;D
-
I hear ya Pat and Eddie, no liberatin in our camp. My set is still a bakers dozen and I like it that way. I think arrows like to stay in dozens also. Kenneth
-
I was going through my "show off" arrows tonight and there is a 5 arrow bambusa matching set with trade points, a single footed river cane arrow I put a trade point on and a walnut footed aspen arrow with walnut self nock and trade point, all made by Art Butner. My special Art arrows stay at home! ;D. I have 3 buffalo nut arrows with purpleheart self nocks and stone points Cade gave me, 2 Kenneth made and 2 Glen Doane made....oh yea, and a few I made. ;D...plus what will be in my quiver. Pat
-
Sounds like a bunch of showing and telling, wathch out for those liberaters. Kenneth
-
Cowboy, very nice arrows brother.. love the osage footing.. hawk
-
Thanks Hawk, I'm startin ta get the hang of it - now if they'll only fly straight ;D.
-
Well, how did those arrows fly? Yall have to liberate any from Pat's inventory/arsenal? ;)
I shot some that Shannon brought, and they flew like I hate to mention it here...carbons (not that a carbon has ever flown out of one of my selfbows while I was shooting it!). ;)
I'm definitely going to have to visit here more often, because I gotta learn how to make cane arrow's, shooting Shannon's at the Classic won me over. :)
-
Greg, If you like cane arrows then you will also like the Japanese arrow bamboo shafts. They are very simmilar to shoot!
David T
-
Great lookin arrows. i really like those :)
-
I started straightening on 1/2 dozen cane's last night that came from the bundle that Shannon brought. Their fairly straight, I'll probably go through them a couple of more times. I'm trying to get a bunch straightened and cut to length, then start weighing them. :)
-
Greg you will like them a lot. Kenneth
-
Post some pic's of em when you get em done Greg - not that I know a lot about cane but some of my fine shots out on the range split saplings and didn't hurt the arra's, I was impressed with em :).
-
Greg, like Cowboy said, Cane and Bamboo are tough and don't warp. This Tonkin arrow came out a lot better than some of the aluminum and carbons I saw hit the Steel Fox target

-
Eddie, with a little glue and a few wraps, that arrow would still be good...a bit stiffer maybe. I have started using more cane lately and am impressed with their flight. Even cane arrows that are heavier than my sourwoods seem to fly flatter and appear faster. Pat
-
I know what you mean Pat. Now if I could just get them to grow in this high desert .
-
I've got a couple that look similar to that Eddie - I'm gonna fix em like Pat said and keep shootin :).
Kenneth: If I ever get permission to cut some of these here in AL, I'll send you a bunch - may have to go covert, but I'll doer ;D.
-
Cowboy don't get in trouble but it would be a shame to leave with out a few souviners, they truly do make awsome arrows. I have a few left that I am going to work up for the heavy trade points. Kenneth
