I have a friend down in south Texas that hunts hogs with dogs. I don't know if he has something against guns are he is just crazy but he likes to get up close and personal and dispatch them with a knife. He asked me to build him a pig sticker and this is what I came up with, Forged from a Nicholson file, 14" over all with a 9" double edge razor sharp blade, brass guard, Ebony and Axis antler. This was a fun knife to build and I am anxiously awaiting a report on how it performs. (http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z424/Roconman/SouthTexasBoarKnife005.jpg)

WOW! That is a great looking knife.
-
awesome!
that will dispatch hogs for sure.
-
Great knife! Hard to believe it was a file at one point.
I've watched some videos of those hog hunts with dogs. Steve rinella in new Zealand and Hawaii. Crazy stuff! Hard use guns cause the dogs are basically fighting with the hog and you got to run in and stick it.

Beautiful piece of work...............

That's beautiful, does it still say Nicholson in front of the hilt or is that your stamp?
-
Amazing

That is an all out beauty! Looks like about the best thing you could have come up with for that task.

Great knife!!! Reminds me of the European Hunting short swords the Germans carried along on some of our Russian Boar forays...Nice work as usual..

That's a beautiful knife. I done a bit of pig hunting in new Zealand and the general rule of thumb is if the dogs are holding you get in and stick the pig and if the dogs are bailing you sneak in and shoot the pig making sure the dogs are out of the way of course.

I was thinking the same thing! Beautiful job! What are the legalities on something like that down there?

What a super knife! Very nice. Lost arrow, Tall Pine is from East Texas. I think it may be illegal not to carry one of these. Curtis

Saweeeeeeeet!!!! :)

My brother spent a good part of February in SE Texas stickin' piggies and chasing dogs. What you got there is plenty long enough to get both lungs even if you miss the heart. That piece there is just waaaay too pretty! That knife is going to inspire some mighty strong envy!
My brother makes hog knives at his forge as well. His are a bit more like a curved Roman Spatha...the widest point of the blade is about a third of the way back from the point. That way you can twist the blade in the wound before drawing it out.

Yea, that will work. Very nice looking knife. You do some good work.

That is a beautiful piece of work! :o The sheath, is outstanding also. Yes sir, that is a fine little pig sticker! ;) 8)They do a lot of the hog, dogs, and knife, down here, but at night, and they wait till the dogs have the pig secured, and then cut it's throat. Not supposed to have a gun in the woods at night. Not that it matters to some of these guys. I know if I were hunting like that, I would have one handy some where. Some of these little piggies down here, aren't the least cooperative, and take offense at having dogs, hold them, while their throat is cut. ;) Plus, You never know what the dogs might disturb, in the night. Would hate upset ol Sasquatch, and only have a knife. :o :o ::) :P Sort of like going to a hammer fight without your hammer. ;) Great piece of work Sir.
