This shoot is sneaking up on us fast ! The dates for this year's shoot is Friday May 27th, Saturday May 28th, and Sunday May 29th (campers may arrive earlier please give me a yell). The cost is $10.00 per person per day. Kids under 12 are free, camping is free, and we supply fire wood for free. We are located in Northwest Pennsylvania, 564 Moore Rd., Waterford, PA 16441 for more info call or email me (Ryan) @ 814-873-2461 or ryanocycleshop@coaxpa.com
We have traditional vendors, door prizes, and an awesome "BREAKFAST BUFFET" served on both Saturday and Sunday morning in the club house. Hamburger, hot dogs, and beverages with also be available in the club house for lunch.
Saturday night we have a "POTLUCK DINNER" everyone brings a dish to pass and we all get together for some good eats!
We have a very unique shoot with two 25+ target courses through nicely wooded rolling terrain with small creeks and bridges. We also have several moving novelty targets set up through out the courses, such as a Running Whitetail Deer, a Treed Bear with hounds, a spinning strutting turkey, a charging Boar, and a flying down Turkey. Last year, we also added an after dark Coon shoot, so bring a Flash light!
We also have a couple of unique contests on Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday is our "SMOKER ROUND" we set a "Special course" with a mixture of 3D and home made 2D targets.
The object is to shoot through our "Special Course" with only one arrow for score. The person able to finish the course with the highest score wins. If you loose or break your arrow and are unable to finish you are out of the running. You may only carry one arrow with you. There will be two classes, natural (Wood/Cane/bamboo) and Man made (Carbon/aluminum/fiberglass). You may continue to shoot your one arrow (even if it breaks) in order to finish the course.....The cost is $5 per person, one class per person only please. The winner splits the pot with the Club. (Last years winner won like $45)
Our other contest is on Sunday. It's called the "TRADITIONAL BOW HUNTER CHALLENGE". This contest is free to enter. We set up a qualifier at the practice range some time sunday AM. You must shoot your best to qualify. We only take the top 5 shooters for the actual contest. This contest is a woods walk where we test your knowledge and ability as a actual traditional bow hunter. You should bring anything you think you may need with you as if you were on a real hunt (No Broadheads though please). Extra points may be awarded for being prepared for anything.... The winner of this contest will receive a nice prize and a trophy.
A BIG THANK YOU ! Go's out to all those of you that have attended this shoot in the past and have helped make this event what it is today.
We hope to see you all back this year as well as plenty of new faces this year !

Bill, this shoot grows a little each year. Last year we had just over 200 shooters registered for the weekend. My sugestion is to get there early if you can cause the camping spots are first come first serve and it gets packed in there pretty tight by friday evening. Some guys showed up last year as early as wendsday to get the camping spot they wanted. ;D Just warning ya though if you show up that early we may try to put you to work helping set up ! LOL.
-
Ryan, I'm thinking about leaving for the Presque Isle shoot the day after the Classic so that I can save my Camping spot...... I guess I'll be there a little early Huh ?
-
Chuck, Sounds good to me. We'll put you to work helpin set up, and I could always go for some more of Miss Rusti's home cook'in! Had a great time seeing ya both at the classic! Tell miss Rusti we named the new pup after her! ;D

Bear, You promised that you would be at Presque Isle and that I make good on your gift of a drink holder (which I used at the Classic) and that piece of leather that I would fashion into a pocket quiver (which I haven't done yet). You know how serious this can be, my advice would be to move the wedding to the shoot or postpone for a week, what do ya think? Chuck
-
Would love to Chuck but you know how women can be.
-
hey ryan....it looks like I will been joining Hickory Bill at the shoot. Looking forward to meeting you and some of the other guys

Dude we need to hook up sometime and have some fun. Im sure ill at least meet ya up there. Its a small world after all. ........
Chris
-

I actually stopped making bows with my wood and started to build an ark. It should be finished by then. Ill bring it up with me and we can shoot from it...oh and there'll be animals on it to shoot too O:)
Not sure if we can do the campfire tho :D
-
Wow, Pappy I sure hope you can make it. It wouldn't be the same with out ya!
That Ark may come in handy Blackhawk! :o
-
Still working on it. Rain sure makes these things harder to put on that's for sure,I feel for you Ryan.
I know how you are feeling. :) :)
Pappy
-
Ryan,I'll be there Fri. after turkey hunting. Bringing up another shooter this year. I think we have about eight or ten campers with us now. That should be enough to clean up on the door prize table again this year. See ya soon.
-
Don't expect any of us Pennsylvanians to shoot very well..... we haven't got much practice in with all the rain ::)LOL Shoot be a good time! I can't wait!!!!
-
Seeing how I've never been to one of these shoots before what are some key items to bring along other than camping gear n some bows n arrows? Are any folks gonna be building any bows, and if so should I take a stave or two to work on n some tools? Should I bring some items for trade?
Thanks Chris
One more week....yay ;D
-
Never been to one either Blackhawk: I'll bring some staves, tools, and trade goods and if nothing else me and you can work on bows and trade.
-
Sounds like a fantastic plan Bill...I love to shoot as much as the next guy but I can't go all weekend without making some shavings. Ill bring up some tools, and staves of BL,slippery elm, downy serviceberry,ERC,and either a Osage or hickory to work on. Not sure yet what id want to work on and what design. I need to think that one over. Maybe a hickory and use our shavings to smoke up some meat ;D
-
Sounds good. What kind of trade goods ya bringing? I mainly have some( Like 19) Finished arrows, that are spined to heavy for my favorite bow,I need a good matched set that fits my bow( 52#)
-
Mainly all I have for trade is the above mentioned staves to trade for stuff minus the Osage(unless its something amazingly awesome). Im looking for some arrows, stone points or rock, yew but I doubt ill find any there, and maybe some more sinew as ya always need more of that stuff. And who knows what else,I guess it just depends on who and what's all there.
Looking forward to this ;D
-
you all might be surprized, bring your trade goods and bring your bow making stuff. We have a half dozen bow benches with vises if you need one. I've always wanted to get some more guys involved with making bows and stuff but I'm always so busy I never have the time to get it started. There will be a couple guys flint knapping for sure!
-
Hey Ryan it looks like I'm finished chasing the turkeys around so I'll be ahowing up Thursday night with a few friends if that's ok...John
-
I'll be up Saturday morning ...I may bring some trade items and some tools too....See ya all then...I am counting the days down now...can't wait
Jon
-
I'm planning on getting there fri. evening.
Still pumped up from the Tennessee Classic!
Can't wait!
There should be a pretty good group of Hawkeye Bowmen there.

Pappy
-
We'll miss ya Pappy. Chuck didnt make it either.
Thanks Pat!
-
I figure that the quality of an archery shoot can be judged by the effort of the club members to make their guests happy. Your club is always top notch. Everything was excellent and I am looking forward to next year. Thanks for a great weekend,John.
-
I sure had fun in the mud. Thanks to all at P.I.F.A who hosted a fun event. There were some awesome selfbows and all wood bows there.
And thanks Ryano for letting us use the bow benches n stuff. Even tho we didn't get much work done cus we were too busy flapping our lips.
Take care....Chris
-
Thank you John ! We really appreciate that. Pat, Jim, Bill, Harry, and I and a few others bust our butts to make this shoot happen. It's people like you that make it worth all the effort! ;D
Your more than Welcome Chris! It was a pleasure to meet you and your family. I only wish I'd of had more time to hang out with y'all and do some more scraping myself !
-
We had an awesome time as usual. Thanks for all the efforts with the courses. The rain held off and the mud made it memorable. Thanks Ryan for the extra help. Cant wait to shoot more of those gators. "I think we got a treeshaker, Lisbeth!" It is a shame that it always goes so fast. Maybe we'll see some of you at Meadville in a few weeks. I was most disappointed that I didn't bring my guitar to play with Ray. He sepent a hour with us telling us about his mandolin. I wont make that mistake again.

Here is a pic
-
Refering to the previous photo:standing down left in front(the short stubby shaved headed dude) is Jon(Straightarrow) with his sweet Molly HHB. Poking out to the right of him with a green shirt on is Bill(HickoryBill) with a fine shooter piece of snakeskin backed osage. The guy in the red is Josh,I can't remember his handle name with a short Osage D bow. The guy in black is me with my musclewood. And the guys farthest to the rights name is Jon and I wont mention here what type of bow he has.
It sure was awesome to meet ya guys finally and im hopefully looking forward to more good times together.
Take care....Chris
