I have a black locust stave. 63" long with a pin knot that I violated the ring on 5 inches down from the one side. One slip is all it takes. it's about 1/8" wide. My plan for the stave is to make a rigid handle recurve. Would just a simple sinew wrap suffice? Or would I be better to go with a bendy handle shortbow?

Just chase the next ring?

I think pics would be really helpful in finding out what to do. 1/8 of an inch is just a minor issue and should be patchable with sinew or rawhide. Though, if you’ve got enough wood to spare, nothing beats a clean back.

Heres the knot. It is more like a little nipple. It's hard to know if a ring is violated or not

Put a drop of super glue on it and keep on keeping on. :OK

Make sure you leave a little extra width at that point when roughing the bow out, it will be fine.
