My trained wild Texas Hog was kind enough to pose with it just after we killed him for dinner. 55#@28" 66" groove to groove. Made from bamboo backed Hickory with a thin center core of Ipe. Brown leather dye to color it. man that was fun!! I cant speak for others but For me the funnest part of primitive archery is making a weapon and anticipting the hunt far before it happens. It makes the fun of hunting season last alot longer. Its an absolute kick designing, building and using your own weapon for a specific purpose.(http://)

Nice pig and a nicer bow.

Real nice pig, whats the story on that? Ground hunting, blind, distance of shot? Cool bow too, I like the dark stripe of ipe. Made a nice contrasting sandwich. Looks like a R/D design?

Great picture - any more? Poor Pig :'(

Very cool pic. I really like that coloring on the boo back too. How are you processing your hog? I'll bet it'll be mighty tasty.Danny

Nice kill. That will feed you and your family for a while. Nicely built bow. I know you have probably made more bows than most guys on this site So we need more specs on this bow. Full draw pic? How do you like this combo? Just a little info on the construction of the bow maybe. Thanks

Nice Pig but unless you have more bow pics this thread will have to go to the hunting forum.

Way to go rudder - cool bow and nice hog!! So were you just huntin in TX or are you around here somewhere?

beautiful bow, and that pig makes a great bow holder, what kind of broadheads do you use?

This particular bow is about 1 3/8" wide at the fades and tapers to about 5/8" at the tips. Putting the strip of Ipe in the middle made it a stronger shooting bow. It could be personal bias or my imagination but there seemed to be a little more speed with it , at least faster than the bamboo backed hickory bow without the ipe center core. the Ipe center core is barrell tapered from center on out. The Ipe core is about 1/4" thick in the center tapering to 1/8" at the tips.
The strange neaighbor kid didnt take the picture this time haha. It was the ranch owner in texas who actually took the picture. We were just visiting thier ranch in texas. Nice place and awesome people down there in texas. The broadhead I used was a flat trade point made from fire hardened steal. Here's a couple of pictures of the broadheads. The only other pictures I have of the bow are ones of a different bow still in the tillering stage. Its unfinished but shows the center core and handle shape better. The last picture shows the handle of the bow. THE HOG TEETH ARE NOT REALLY THAT BIG. I got carried away in photoshop and now I dont know how to undo it because I am half computer stupid, its the only other good picture I have of the bow handle.

The broadheads were simple trade points made from fire hardened steel. 1" wide, went right through the hog!1
