I had a unusual piece of Osage i had put to the side a year or so ago, every time i walked into the shop it caught my eye, so i decided to see if i could get a hunting bow out of it for myself. I had to remove some twist, other than that everything else is just the way the stave presented itself.
I'm not especially fond of the full draw tiller on this bow, but it shoots so good i hated to change it. It has tremendous speed, smoothe draw, and little - no hand shock.
63" ntn
62lbs at 28"
1 1/4 limbs to mid limb tapering to 3/8 at tips.
Backed with flathead ( catfish ) skins

I have an osage bow with a very similar knot in the top limb. You did much much better than I did. I wouldn't change that tiller at all. How long is the bow? I really like that shape. Impressive bow. Never thought of using catfish skin as a backing, looks great.

Love the hole. had to make for some tough work shaping and tillering. I enjoy looking at the catskins, make for a beautiful bow.
-
Don't know why you are carping about the tiller, looks just fine. (Hehehe, I got a lot more fishy puns perched on the tip of my tongue but will spare you)
Sweet looking bow, would be poetic to go shooting fish with that bow! Nice work on those tips.

Thank you all very much for all the nice compliments, the Flathead weighed 52 lbs got enough skins for two bows out of it.
-
Bold move recurving a squirrelly piece of wood like that. I dig it.
