Title: In need of a scrapper for my son
Post by: dinorocks on February 10, 2011, 04:09:36 pm
I'm looking for a scrapper with handles on the sides for my son to use.  He is young (7 yrs old), wants to work on his own bows, but has a hard time using my scrapper (which is just a flat piece of heavy gauge steel with no easy way for him to grip).  If I had (or knew someone) with a strong enough drill press, I might be able to add a handle to one of my scrappers.

I have dogbane stalks and some blunt tips to trade.  I'm sure my son could make you something out of Lego's to trade too ;D

Thanks in advance!

Have you tried taking apart a pair of scissors?  If they were big enough you could wrap the ends in something to protect his hands.

nope, cant and wont take credit for this
its from that bow company that nobody likes  ;D
i have a few of these that i have gotten from them over the last couple of years
before his quality controll went south
i actually realy like this scraper, easy to control
the harder you press the thicker the shaving you get
but if you slip, and i have
you can run the very corner of it deep in the belly
or worse off the side of the stave and leave some pretty nasty gouges
my most recent bow that i have made(couple months back now)
has the remnants of one of these gouges in the belly
