640 x 640 will throw them out of proportion. Go with 640 x 480 to maintain the original proportions and not make the pictures look stretched.

After many frustating years and blurry pics I finally figured if I set my camera at the lowest quality picture setting the pics will come out 640x480. Just right for posting. It works on both of our dig cameras. Both are HP but 2 differant models.     Pat

Pat, you can usually control the size and quality seperately on the camera, you should be able to take 640 x 480 pics that are still good resolution. 726whk, most computers have some kind of photo software on them. When you open the pic, your computer probably uses this software to display it. When you click on the "edit" or "image" tab near the top of the screen, there should be a "resize" option.

Steve, I tried those things over the years and never got good pics for the PA site. I had no prob e-mailing pics, just posting them on PA. Making the adjustment with the camera solved it. The software that came both of my HP cameras has "resize" options but I could not get a clear pic when I used it for resizing the pics for PA.   Pat

  726wk--when you do the resizing in paint, do as others said resize to 640 width x480 height. Then you should see something that says APPLY or ok--press that. That should reset any new pics you put on to 640x480--seewhat happens.........bob

  If you resized, the puter will do it for you--you dont have to resize each picture--like I said try a new one--it should automatically be resized yo 640x480--you willsee it on bottom of pic.......bob

  When you post --look at bottom left of post--it will say additional options-click that--then in middle it will say browse-click that--that should bring you to paint on left side of screen-select pic then hit browse again-and keep doing that to post pics-up to 6--DO NOT hit preview or spell check on bottom of screen--when youre finished hit post..................see what happens.......bob  oh yeah-dont use preview on bottom of screen-use preview in popup that comes up when you want to view pics

You can go to the HP website and download HP Image Zone. Inside it select the pic you want.....click on the edit tab at the top.....click on the resize tab on the left......choose any of the regular sizes ...(ie; 4x6, 8x10) and then save as and save with a new name. That way you can post the new pic with the lower pixel rate and still keep your high res pic on your pooter    ;D

Here is a great viewer and editor...
Makes resizing simple and will keep the aspect ratio so your photo don't become distorted..

imgur thumbnails tutorial

append letters to filenames to post thumbnails instead of full size pics when using imgur

For example, the image located at https://i.imgur.com/sOhXV1F.jpg has the Medium Thumbnail located at https://i.imgur.com/sOhXV1Fm.jpg

The thumbnails are:

s = Small Square (90x90)
b = Big Square (160x160)
t = Small Thumbnail (160x160)
m = Medium Thumbnail (320x320)
l = Large Thumbnail (640x640)
h = Huge Thumbnail (1024x1024)[/quote]

when the appended filename in the hyperlink is enclosed with img tags by selecting the hyperlink with your mouse in and clicking the insert img icon above, in the editor menu, the thumbnail itself is posted rather than the hyperlink,
(https://i.imgur.com/sOhXV1Fm.jpg)
and of course, clicking on either link will direct your browser to the respective sized pic at imgur

there are many free services online that will resize images for you
just search for "online resize image"
pick one result
upload your original images and download the resized images

images usually comes in 3:4 or 16:9 ratio so just set the biggest dimension to 640 and let the computer set the other according to ratio
