So I've said it before but this time I mean it for real, this is my best shooter ever. ;D ;D No seriously it is!
Anyways.... it comes from a sweet grained stave I received from Stringman in a trade that just keeps paying off for me.
I've put at least 500-600 arrows through it over the past 3 weeks and the profile remains unchanged. I didn't take a picture of the full draw until I'd already shot the first 100 arrows and I don't even care if it looks off, I'm not changing a thing. Doesn't make a sound when shot, absolutely no hand shock and hammers an arrow home with authority and accuracy. So for all you new bowyers out there don't give up after your first 100-130 bows, heres proof that if you make enough of them you'll eventually get the one you've always wanted. Even if by accident. :)
60" ntn and a draw weight of somewhere in the neighborhood of 53# at my 24" draw
A little acrylic paint dot pattern and finished with several coats of beeswax and then paste wax only, nothing more
Dyed deerskin handle and shooting off the knuckle with no strike plate

and of course there are always more pictures ;)
-
Is that a stiff handle McGregor? What the "blank" is this world coming to.
-
Next he's gonna be putting arrow shelves on his bows!
;)
-
Great looking bow Greg. I hope you enter it for the BOM contest.
-
He was telling me on the phone the other day about it and I said the same thing about a stiff handle. my next question was whether he cut a shelf in and his response was "shelves are for books". Very nice buddy!
-
Looking forward to seeing that one in a week. Congrats, Mr Greg!
-
That looks fantastic! You really got the most out of that stick and I can't wait to take a closer look at it.
-
Congrats Greg! A bow to be proud of for sure.
-
Bingo!!!! every profile looks right on, especially the one that says "swwwweeeet" when shot. How does it feel to ruin a perfectly good arra?? :) Better bring that one to the classic.

Very nice looking bow!

The full draw looks great to me. I dig the white dot pattern and handle wrap. I'd say you've got a winner there sir!
-
Always nice when that special one comes along. Really like the curves on that one Greg. Glad to see you build another. Hopefully see ya at Marshall in a month.

Those white dots will show up more and more as the bow darkens with age.
-
Beautiful in every way.
-
Nice job! Sweet and simple. White dot pattern is very cool. Tiller looks great to me too! Cheers- Brendan
-
Outstanding! It conflicts with what Howard Hill always said about a bow.... but you can't fuss over stuff like that when you are busting arrows! Great work my friend. Looking forward to seeing that one next week.
-
Very nice!!! Shelves are for books! Love it
-
Beautiful bow Greg, hope to see it in action in a week or so. :)

That's a fantastic looking bow, and it is really sweet when it all comes together as you describe. My best shooters all pretty much happen by accident. I cant really point to anything I did different when it occurs. Is there anything you did different that you would repeat on the next bow?
-
Not sure what I did differently rps3 and don't know if I could do it again, I think I just got lucky on this one. Being a stiff handle bow is a bit outta the norm for me as ole' Pearly mentioned and that could just be most of it. I have very few strict set of rules that I adhere to from bow to bow so it basically a crap shoot when I take to building one. :D
Clint, your right the white dots will stand out more as the osage darkens. There is some really pretty grain in this osage too.
Thanks for the comments guys, looking forward to seeing you at Pappy's in a week and at Marshall in a month. :)

Sometimes it is just a special piece of wood , have tried to figure out why but have never been able to.
You can look at 2 piece of wood that look the same but for some reason they aren't. Again Greg very nice work. :)

Simple elegance, Greg. I love your bows.
-
Congrats on your newest bow.Always enjoy seeing yours.
-
I think that slight D/R design makes for a very smooth shooter. Looks like a great tiller, and I really like the handle wrap.
-
"shelves are for books"
Truth! lol
-
Nice bow really like the dot work
-
Another beauty Greg. Fantastic shot. Very Robin Hood of you. I need to post another one soon. Hope all is well.
-
I knew you would come to the dark side, first stiff handle of many i bet, beauty of a bow Greg, what is left to say but awesome
-
Way too cool Greg...love it
-
Superb bow, a Badly Bent Tipical.
The profiles are top shelf, I believe this bow will be your favorite for a long time.
-
Greg,
What's that target butt made of????

Nice looking bow Greg. I love the profile. You better take it hunting this fall.
-
Excellent looking bow Greg, and an arrow splitter too. Looking forward to seeing it at Marshall.
-
Your Bows are always stunners Greg - well done :OK ! Bob

You know that is true Pappy, take two staves that look to be identical in most ways and one might just have all the right stuff to become a sweet bending stick and the other may just be mediocre. You can't always tell until after you make a bow out of it.
Your'e right about a d/r design shooting smooth Aaron, if done well they are like silk.
I"m not sure what that target material is Bill. Excelsior maybe? Those pics were at a state park not far from home.
Not my first stiff handled bow Bub but first I've made for myself in a while. I may just stay here on the dark though. :)
Thanks again for the kind comments guys.
-
Beautiful bow Greg! Very sweet. I dig that one. Great job!
-
Man if you say its an awesome bow, then it must be an amazing bow!!! You make the coolest bows I know. I really respect your work. Great job.
-
I've always really liked your eye for finish work and that one is up there in the tops. It's great. I just finished an Osage in beeswax, myself.
I'm preferring it. I really like the form of your reflex and handle. I might mimic that one soon!
