Thanks gentlemen. I had built one about twice that size 2 years ago and I pretty much took it over. She never really complained but did mention that I had done so. I promised her I’d build her one. Mother’s Day was the target date, missed it buy about a week Bj. Now I can get her few things out of mine and get back to bow making. Glad it’s done. It’s time and money well spent. And she loves it. She already told me I can’t put anything in it. Now I can get back to finishing my trade bow.

And just in time for Mothers Day.

Looks like a nice straight piece of Osage.

I haunt the Facebook Marketplace, mostly for good deals on canning jars, used 20# propane bottles for a song and anything else that catches my eye.

I saw this lot for sale this week for $100, the molds and dipper alone are worth $100. If I keep this stuff I will need to find a .45 barrel for my TC Hawken. I have two TC Hawkens, one in .50 and .54 but not in .45

I met the guy and it turned out he was settling his dad's estate and wanted to get rid of a lot more stuff so he thew it in on deal. Black powder never goes bad, I suspect this full can of 2F is from the 60s along with 5 tins of #11 caps, the price tag on the can is $4.95. I asked if he wanted to sell his dad's gun but he wanted to hold on to it. With the 13/16" TC breechplug wrench in the box the gun has to be a Senica or Cherokee which are more valuable than the Hawken or Renegade.

Ah yes I see where you're going.

I think the warmer rabbit hole would be working strain against mass compared to arrow speed. Yew, for example, has quite a low stiffness but can accommodate a prodigious amount of working strain.

There's still a Connexion-style hinge being made by a broadhead manufacturer (not sure if I can say their name or not). The hinge is not on the website but if you email they'll send a brochure.

Still costs $100USD. There's a straight layup version and a version that will accommodate up to 11 degrees past flat.

That three-plated hinge looks fascinating. The pins must be mighty tough indeed.
