Hello all. I finished a bow today from an osage stave that had been giving me the evil eye from the corner for a few days and decided I would turn it into a static recurve...So I did and here it is... the bow is made from a single piece of three year cured osage and is 53" Long 52" from string groove to string groove, is right at 55 #'s @ 26". I am pleased this bow will pull half of it length with no complaints. The handle is smoked brain tanned mule deer. Nice simple hunting bow.
Enjoy the pics.

I love seeing those shorter bows at full draw...nice work. That wouldmake for one great turkey hunting bow!
-
Great looking bow! The full draw reveals a perfect tiller, and I mean perfect. Side note: Which tribe/ clan are you from. And I mean no offense. My Grandfather is 1/2 Lakota Sioux Fox Clan I believe.

Eric, Great job as always!!!!!

Bill, I am CHICKASAW from the OKA-LA-FA-LAY-A clan and the house of CUSH-KE-RE. Translation is "People of the big water".
I have spent the last 27 years among the Comanche's and was Adopted into the tribe in 1988. My main bowmaking reflects the plains Tribes. I do make an oddball like this once in a while. I do also make an occasional eastern longbow as well.

Now, that's my kind of bow, short and simple.

My short bows are 60" t/t osage static recurves. Now I have another goal to reach. My draw is 26" so I'll have to try a 53" now.
Very cool little bow. I love the simplicity of your work. Thanks again for sharing it with us. 8)
