Okay I know the tiller is off and I've stared at it over and over and I can't quite figure out where it's off and where I should scrape to fix it. I think that either the top limb is too stiff mid limb or the bottom midlimb is bending too much? I hate tillering stiff handled bows. I had this thing almost finished up, took the full draw pics and it just screamed AWFUL to me. Thanks for any help.

actually NTD....unless I am just too tired right now from Hunting all day.....or it's really just from Mid to Tip on the Top Limb that is a Bit too Stiff....does this Bow have an Arrow Shelf?? If Not...Flip it and look at it again....JMO

just a glued on floppy rest I can move that LOL. I will flip it Mike, Thanks.

Here is a flipped pic. It does look better but still off to me. Think it's the mid to tip Mike?

That tiller is fine, within the vareity of differnt tillering styles, ok it's a whisker stiff in the outer, but most folk like that (a bit Holmgaardish)
It look pretty symetrical.
I'd just shoot it and live with it for a while, then, when you've stopped worrying, you may suddenly see how you want to fine tune it.
Sometimes, we get guilty of overthink.
BTW I think the first pic looks best.

I played a bit with rotating the pictures and the tiller looks pretty good to me, but If were dead set on making an adjustment I'd scrape close in at the top fade. The bottom limb does appear to have a little more pressure and the outer bend seems fine to me. Its hard to comment on tiller without seeing the unstrung profile, brace and front profile of the limbs. Just take this as another comment and something to consider. Very nice looking bow, hows it shoot?
-
I wouldn't worry about that tiller. It's spot on, if you ask me :)
-
It looks great, good job!
I totally agree with Del by the way.
-
The bottom limb is shorter is it? Other than that looks good. Mark a pencil line at the end of the fades and make sure the wood just starts to move there. Jawge

I don' know... looks pretty good to me. Fades are a bit stiff maybe, but it's a non-bending handle. Call it a bow.
-
i hear you about stiff handled bows. Only stiffhandles i go for are on holmegaards....these days i'm all about bendy handle bows.
Nate is that you in the pic? I must be confused...i thought you were a K9 dog handler....my bad
-
OK...here is an Eliptical Pattern to help you see just how the two limbs are Bending...don't work as good on a Stiff Handled Bow...but gives a great reference Point....and also what Jawge said...mark the Bow on both Limbs where the Fades Transition into the Limbs....this is the Spot that you want to wood to start bending.... not after them....and definitely Not Before either!!
Remember ....this is just for reference....

Doesn't look bad at all to me. Maybe a little more bending just out of the fades would be good, but if it shoots good, I'd call it done.
-
Thats sort of My Opinion Too....You can take Perfection to the Point of Destruction....it just takes One More Scrape....... >:D
-
Looks pretty good to me too. Shoot it a bunch and come back and look again.
-
Ok since a lot of you are saying it looks okay and I agree with Mike that I just might tweak it to oblivion, I'm going to leave it. I'm making this bow for a friend and well kind of wanted it perfect. He'll never know the difference, especially since it shoots VERY nicely, but I'll always know it's a little off. I guess that will just give me an excuse to make him another one.
Of the two pics which limb should I use as the top?
Radius. Not sure what you mean about, you thought I'm a K9 Handler? Yes I was a K9 handler a year and a half ago. And yes, I know I look 14 ;D I'll appreciate it when I'm 40. I've gained a little weight since then as well and well that doesn't help make me look any older.
Thanks for all the help guys.

I know George I was thinking the bottom limb looks shorter too, but it's actually not.

Tiller looks good so don't worry, NTD. It's an optical illusion! Jawge

The tiller looks fine to me also. Shoot that sucker till your arm falls off.

Nate, my bad:
i think it's nathan elliot on here who is the dog handler...
-
Radius,
Like I said. I was a dog handler. Graduated the USBP's National Canine facility in 2006. I moved to Arizona from New Mexico and was not eligible for a lateral transfer.

This is just a skinnier version of me. I hate fat cops so kept in shape.
And once a dog handler always a dog handler. I'm training one of my current malinois for private security/detection work and plan to have him working by next summer.
-
If you think that's bad then i'm not going to post any pictures of my bows.
if it shoots good and there's no hinges, that's what matters to me.
