From first brace to last arrow, this bow basically built itself. At every station during the process I would look....scratch my head.... and say....where do I remove wood? :) It all came down to just lowering the poundage through out the limbs.I let this bow sweat alot.6 hrs one day, 4 the next, (I am always skeptical when things go so well,) and everything kept saying ,"green light" So I let it flow. Kinda boring actually. ???
63" ntn,54#@ 27",very clean piece of osage.Carries 1" reflex after work and rest back to 1.5" after rest. Limbs are 1 3/8" @ fades for 4" ,tapering to 3/8" tips.Prairie rattler skins, and a lil dye here and there for good measure.Bacote tip overs. I got a lil carried away taken pics,as I kinda like this one. (sorry).:)

Now, that is sweet!!! The tiller is outstanding. 8) I also like the way you dyed the handle area and your handle wrap. I may be using both ideas soon. ::)

Congratulations on an extremely handsome bow that must be a choice as an everyday shooter. Impresses this old man.
-
Timo, that's a beauty. It has a great tiller. But nice try. I don't believe it built itself. :) Jawge
-
That is a super nice bow Tim. I don't think it gets much better than that for a self bow. I am sure at that weight it shoots with plenty of authority and the tiller is exceptional. Love the skins too. Danny
-
nice tiller, very very nice
chuck

Long clean lines... firm belly, strong back... and bends in all the right places.. my kind of girl.. ;D ;) great looking bow brother... I wouldn't think twice about chasing after spring bear here in Wyoming with a bow like her... Hawk

That's one of the sharpest bows I've seen in a long time!
I like everything about it. 8)

One of the nicest bows I have seen. I really like the colors, the snakeskin, dye job, and handle wrap. Tiller looks spot on. Nice!
-
Built itself eh Tim ;) If ya run into anymore of that variety of osage save me a piece eh :)
All my wood needs to be wrasseled into shape :D
Can't really add to what everyone else said, well done eh :)
-
Outstanding job! I wish I could find one to build itself like that! Seriously though, that's a beautiful bow. :)
-
Thanks again everyone.
I really couldn't get the pic I was wanting to show you of the limbs. This wood has alot of figure in it,I call it fiddle back, similar to what you see in Maple. The sun has to hit it right to see, and it don't seem to shine here much anymore! >:(
-
You got reason to be proud Timo. Beautiful as usual. Tiller is round as a dollar. Love the leather work. Perfect.
We're still getting Spring 3 to 5 days at a time, spits of 60s and 70s, as high as 80, beautiful weather. But Turkey season opened this morning, and I'm sitting here looking out the window at light rain, going on 6 hours steady w/ ditches running full, wind NE 10-20 and mid 30s. Lovely. Think I'll go shopping. LOL
You boys just keep raisin' the bar. Makes a man wanna take up knife buildin'. ;-)
BTW Timo, I been studyin' steady on that old boy that made those knifes outa edger blades since I saw the thread. Bein' as I'm genly tightern a drum, I got every old edger blade I ever bought, knowing it was the right thickness and hi carbon steel (they throw star sparks.) So last night I parted one with a hack saw. Headed to town to fetch me a bench grinder. Got a lot of blades w/ a big arbor hole, will make blades perfect for those kinda folding antler knifes Loyd makes. I'm stoked. Sorry for the hijack.
-
Timo, I can see why you ( and the rest of us) "kinda like" that one
That is some pretty wood right there and I love the tip overlays you did
Your bows are always an inspiration

This is a serious candidate for March Self Bow of the Month. Very nice!

Medicinewheel, this is a different bow than is in the tutorial.

Alan

Very fine bow T. I especially like the tiller.
I had one just jump out of the stave a couple years back and had to build another quick just to make sure I had not somehow become good at it. Great to see you back in the bow shop these days. Keep em coming.

Sweeet! The name is fitting, you set the bar high. The handle, skin, tips and tiller are top noch. The only thing I don't like, is that I did not make it. ;D
-
Tim, that bow is outstanding! Very nice on every detail from the tips to the handle wrap and dye job. The tiller is as good as it gets. Congratulations on a fine example of great craftsmanship. Keenan
