after dinner me and my Ian are loading up and driveing about a hunded miles to the hunting camp. im bringing my .58 hawken, but its supposed to be rainy, so im also bringin the winchester moddle 94 30-30. ian will be shootin a mosin nagant with open sights. wish us luck! we sure need it. lol. ;D

Good luck! That Hawken is a percussion, isn't it? My Hawken is just fine in rain as long as you keep the nipple covered, under your arm or something.

Rub a tiny amount of patch lube around the OUTSIDE of the nipple before you slide on the cap, waterproofs it nicely. For my flintlocks (or flinch rocks, hehe) I put a thin bead of grease around the outside of the pan and in an arc over the touch hole in the barrel before closing the lock. Seals 'er up nice and tidy.
Enjoy the heck outa camp...after two years missing muzzleloader deer camp, we are resurrecting better than ever here in the Black Hills!

thanks guys! cant wait. im just trying to figure out what im forgetting to pack. its always something. but i got guns, bullets, tags and clothes so atleast i have the minimum lol.
