Title: How does the tiller look?
Post by: JWMALONE on January 07, 2018, 07:15:06 pm
Hello guys, this bow is a red oak flat bow 69 inches t2t, 1.5 inches to mid limb then tapering to 3/8 at the tips. I had the tiller pretty good but ran into a booboo so had to do a lil more. Its still #52.5 @28 my goal is 50 so hopefully it will come in close. If I get the tiller right and come close to my target weight it will be my 2nd successful bow. The first several I made came in grossly under weight. Thanks for the help Guys

JW, upper limb appears to be strong probably because of your hand placement on the grip...Lovely even bend on both limbs...Center your grip and I think the top limb comes around...

Thanks Don, Ive always shot recurves kinda new to this style ill work on that grip. I measured from string to limb at 5 inch interval at different draw lengths and it was even. 45 years and your the first Burchette ive ever talked to, its my grandmothers maiden name.

And now you got another JW to deal with, too.  Suck it up, buttercup!  LOL

At least this new (and improved?) JW knows how to tiller a bow decently.  Nicely done, Mr Malone, nicely done indeed. Looking forward to seeing more of your stuff.

Nice job sir and I agree. That tiller looks very nice. I'd just move my hand up the grip maybe a inch or so. You might lose your 2.5 lbs just shooting and sanding. Well done and hope to see many more from you.
