Good looking bow, nice job on the tips too. Is the upper limb (with the knot near the handle) longer than the lower limb?
-
Thanks Hrothgar !
No this is a symetrical bow.
Vive la liberté, hey hey ! :OK
-
Just a beauty. Nice work, :)

-
Thank you ! it 's been a long work !
-
Really nice work on that bow, took me a second to catch that Made in France part, nice.
-
Very Nice!

Thanks JWMALONE and Badger !

It looks like you have been making bows for some time. Really nice work. My name was changed from DeJean to DeJanes in the 1800 census here. The family arrived in New York in 1794 to escape the French revolution. The family was living in Paris before coming here. I still feel a certain affinity toward France.
Thanks,
Greg

Hi Greg, dear cousin ;)
Thank you !
Yes i have been making bows since 1994.
I also feel a certain affinity toward your country since i read Jim Hamm book, traveled many times in North America. (Quebec, New York, Iowa, Arizona, New Mexico, Idaho, Texas ...) and of course fell in love with osage wood :)

Nice work.

That bow really fits right in on here.Sweet bend and overall profile.

Excellent work all around
-
Thanks a lot gents, a nice reward after such efforts ! :D
-
Very beautiful bow!
Was the knot left with an extra growth ring or 2 above the back?
I'm working on one now with some proud knots I hope look as good 8)

Hi DuBois (another french name that fits with selfbow making),
Thanks ! no extra growth ring on the knot it is not necessary and even risky on bending parts i think ...
-
Fantastic. :BB

Good looking bow. Nice work

Great looking bow. I like the handle wrap and tiller looks very good. I bet its a fast shooter :)

Thanks guys !
M2A, I made some decoration with simple lines grooved on the handle with a bone tool (before assembling and stitching of course)
White felt (sized chair leg tip) is color coordinated with the white antler tips, allows constant hand placement and better arrow sliding.
The bow has a dacron string for daily training and a linen string for our "european prehistoric competitions"
I wish i had a speed chrono i can't tell ...
(You can see on the pictures the wood was not lin seed oiled yet )

That is a really good looking bow. I love the leather work you did.
-
Really pretty bow with great eye for detail

Nice to find another bowyer who follows this practice about knots. I point out the the grain does not run up to a knot and stop, it goes around.
-
Thanks !
Jim Davis I thought a bowyer with a minimum of experience would know about knot and grain ?
-
Top notch job.
Love everything about her.

Thank you !
