Did a little boppin today. From a peice of snowflake obsidian a 7" Lanceolate. And two hunting points for this year, the one on right is 100% cortex. Some of that stuff is almost as hard as the flint inside :). Guess I should wait till I can show some finished arra's and spears - but I get bored ;D.

Gracias all! I appreciate all the support. I got bows to build for a feller, points for another, and a troup of boyscouts to teach knapping too, not to mention work and home. Spare time is getting real scarce around here :).

hell yea, i recon i'll bust some stone today.
-
Man you sculpted them points out just right! How is it that you know how to create the perfect flakes out of a piece of flint, so that when you're through making all those flakes you're left with a beautiful point? ;) I bet when you're finished you sometimes speak to your point and say..."well howdy!...how did you get there?" . ;D
-
Thanks Greg :D. I usually talk to myself when I break one that's almost finished, maybe part of that goes to the rock ;D - but mostly I just talk to the dog now and then, he's the only one interested in hanging out with me ;) ;D.
-
those are my kind of hunting points!
-
Soooo....where's my tomahawk? ;D Budy! Pal! Best Friend!!!! ;D ;D ;D
Yep! Dogs best friend is a flintknapper. :D
-
Those are really nice points cowboy. That snowflake obsidian is gorgeous, where is it found? God Bless
-
Thanks Pete. I'm sure it comes from the NW states somewhere. I picked it up at a rock yard here in Ft.Worth (selling it as ornamental stone). It's really no good for points or projectiles (too brittle) but of course you only need it to work one time - once it's inside the deer doesn't matter if it's broken of not..
