Nice pernts Eddie. Talk 'bout 'em some ! :-X :-X.......bob

Thanks Chris. These are some arrows I made up for the hog hunt Chris and I are going on in two weeks. We're going to hunt on one of those plantations on the Olmulge River in Ga.Next door to where they got "Godzilla".
Claude Van Order knapped the points. The man is a master.4 of the arrows are barreled tapered pine and the other 3are tonkin bamboo.I also have an Ipe spear made up with a 4" coral point if the opportunity arrives. They are all wrapped with sinew.
-
Looks like great pig stickers to me. All you need is a couple of obsidian points and you will be ready. ;D Justin
-
You guys better take some pics of your hunt! ;) Those points should do the trick. A few look like Eddie's pig stickers anyway. He likes then long and narrow.
So, are you guys leaving directly from Hickory or what? ;D Pat
-
Man am I jelous! Have fun on the hunt. One day! One day! ;D
-
Sweet arra's now go get em bloody eh
Dana
-
Very nice Eddie, you do good work also.
Pappy
-
Get 'em red, Eddie.
-
Cool points and deadly. :)
-
Say does the guy who made your points give lessons?
-
Yea,For free. You just show up,sit down and start to break rocks. He does it for a living, every day except when he's at church. He likes the company.Sometimes there will be a group in tents in his backyard for the weekend.
-
Whats his name and where is he located? I may show up on his doorstep someday! ;D
-
Sorry ,Claude is about to move to Tenn. But if you got in touch with Steve Parker(Hillbilly) You would be way ahead of the knapping game.If you spent time with Steve you would learn an awful lot about Percussion Flaking and reproducing Abo points.Plus It is a lot cooler in North Carolina.
-
Bad news! I'm in WA State.
-
Florida was farther away than North Carolina ???Hell,Steve might travel
-
;D ;D ;D
-
Nice arras! that one in the middle looks like coral to me - man that stuff will take a beating. Was that hog taken by jeep? :)
-
Paul,All those points are raw Perdales, (the cobble you sent)except the Folsom on the right. It's that pretty rock from around Ft.Hood.The one in the middle is Coastal Plains ,Ga.
-
Oh,sorry. In the forehead is a small hole from a 22 pistol.Don't believe all those stories about ferocious charging wild hogs. ;)
-
Paul, was that the same stuff you sent me? Dang that stuff is tough!!!! I still have not been able to make anything from it. Heat treating I bet will help but. Dang thats tough stuff!!! I think I really apreciate obsidian now. My 1/2" thick copper rod looks like its been torn apart after trying to spall that stuff.

Very nice Eddie.
I have some of Eddie's points and I have to say they are excellent
-
Thanks Marc.Chris, has a cousin coming along that doesn't hunt.So he is going to shoot video and see what we can come up with.
-
Eddie the video will be cool. Last time I did one I was shown scampering up a tree, :-[ avoiding some mean looking Black Russian Boars. Yea, yea, yea, It was 30 years ago when I was a person lighter. ;D Damn, I didn't know I could climb a tree that fast.
P.S. Beautiful "stuff" Eddie. Someday???????

Thanks Dick,I was hoping to make it to Hickory. But with gas the way it is and the hunt the following weekend,I really couldn't afford it.Georgia charges for a hunting licence for pigs on top of that.Ya'll have fun.
-
Yeah, Eddie. bout all I've seen of the hogs around here is their tails dissapearing into the brush, I guess if the chips were down and they were cornered the story might change.
Hey D, sorry - haven't been checking the ole laptop very often. Yep that's the same stuff......did I mention it's tough? ;D. Your right of course, if you heat treat it'll help, but if your'e trying to spall it out with a half inch rod you may go insane ;D. I use a copper hammer I made, and have solid copper boppers from 1 1/2" on down. Spall em first then treat, should help. If you need more victims let me know.
-
The rocks the victim?!?! I thought I was! :o
-
Ha, I actually read somewhere that a victim is a person who heats the rock and drips water on it to pop a flake off. Don't try that unless you just want to see a good pop, and ruin your rock. :)

nice work, love those abo arrows, good luck on the hunt. Kenneth
