I'm wanting to make a pain relief salve using pepper powder, turmeric, and ginger powder. I have quite a bit of deer tallow I have no plans for any time soon and I'm getting lots of hot and super got peppers now. So does anyone have any experience wth homemade salves and how well of a carrier and moisturizer deer tallow would be? I might need o add a bit of a thinner to the tallow to get it to melt at a bit lower temperature. Though I think it melts fine at body temp with a little rubbing.
So any recommendations? And anyone want to try some once it's done?

Never tried it but I'd think you'd want menthol in there too. Thinking about it, I seem to remember hearing that chili oil can help with pain. Maybe you could use that to thin the tallow a bit.

Coconut oil melts at a low temperature and is readily available.

Interesting idea...a bit of bear oil may help to thin it some. There is an odorless rub that acts like BenGay rub that is called Blue Emu...some of those ingredients may be used with what you want.
