I am looking for Juniper staves to replicate Ishi's bow and gear.
Here is my offer for the trading blanket: Send me 3 juniper staves and I will make 3 Ishi's style bows. I will keep two of them and send you back one fully finished and functioning Ishi style bow (sinew backed juniper)
Let me know if you are interested.
Thx
Steve

His bows are top shelf, top notch replicas and very functionable. If I had juniper at th eready I would be on it. Nice talking with yew this weekend Steve!
-
That sounds like a sweet deal. Wish I was sitting on some juniper...
-
Nice talking with you as well and thank you for compliment on bows!
Looking forward to getting Frank out to do some knapping soon! I have never done it and would like to add that dimension to my replica kits. Lol...probably take me 10 years to make one point!

Sent you a PM

Very tempting, I would but my juniper isn't seasoned and full of knots. Plus it would require me giving up my best wood ::)
-
Knots are just fine as is greenwood Newindian. Let me know if u change your mind.
-
I have acess to ERC (same thing right?) But they are, of course, wet. I'd gladly trade you for a yew stave, >:D
-
Wet is fine but I do not trade my yew :o
-
Gah! Here in indiana we have lots of Juniper and elm and all the fun wood. Except Yew. Agh!!! I'd probably prefer to send dried staves, due to the fact that shipping has ALOT to do with weight. I'll cut some down and in a few months if you still want juniper... I'll have some.

Hello YewArcher,
I have some nice ERC.
Cut and Split at least six months ago.
Would that do?
I tried sending a PM but I don't see it showing in my sent box.
So if you got several PM's from me, I apologize... :)

Jeremiah the trade will be good whenever u are ready toto it.
Gus, I do not know a lot about Juniper...I think ERC is a form of juniper or maybe te same. Regardless I will give it a go if you would lie to do swap?
-
Will these work, all green all ashe juniper, the bow is 49" long as a refrence
-
Those look good to me! Nice bow as well. Is that juniper?
-
Eastern Red Cedar is also called Eastern Juniper, so... Yeah.
-
I meant is your bow in pic juniper?
I like that wood want to seal a deal?
-
Yup the bow in the pics is juniper heart wood, I sould be able to ship them to you in the next week
-
Would you like me to cut them to a certain length before shipping
-
Great! Cannot wait to start roughing them! I would say cut the cleanest 55" lengths, that should be plenty to work with. I will PM you address.

Ashe Juniper (Juniperus ashei) is plentiful around here. I'm keeping an eye out for some land being cleared or someone that has some they need cut.
