I just wanted to show a couple of pictures of my latest bow. This one is an Osage Selfbow, 59"NTN, 53lbs@27" with cow hoof overlays on the tips and a cordage wraped handle.
Thanks for looking.
Mark

Love the bow. Great tiller! Jawge

Those overlays are awesome. That smooth transition from overlay to limb is one thing I'm wanting to learn.I think it really brings the beauty out in a fine piece of wood. Thanks for shareing.tradrick

Beautiful bow. Looks like a performer. Pat
-
Smooooooth! I like 'em all knotty and twisty too but osage that clean can be almost as hard to find as the snaky stuff. I hope one of my next ten comes out that sharp!
-
nice bow. did you bend the tips with steam or dry heat? or some other way perhaps?
-
Excellent Bow mate! Really love the tiller and the tips. Nice work on the working curves too. ;D

Thanks guys, I appreciate the nice comments. I used dry heat on the tips, tried to put just enough reflex in the tips to help keep the string secure.
The hoof is great material to work for overlays, it is pretty easy to get a good transition from the tip to the limb.
A while back I started using the digital camera for checking the last few inches/lbs of tiller, it really shows where the wood needs to come off.
Thanks again,
Mark

I'm a sucker for flipped up tips, and those are about as nice as they get. Such graceful lines - what a beautiful bow.
What kind of cordage did you use for the handle?
-
Beautiful bow tiller look great and the finish work is exceptional.Great job. :)

I really like that bow. Great tips, tiller, finish and handle. I'm also a fan of shortish bows like this one for hunting.
-
Wow! Talk about perfect tiller! Proudly bookmarked for Sept Self Bow of the Month, too.
-
Thanks again guys I had great time making this one.
Gordon, The handle wrap is a sort of braded material that I found in a local arts and crafts store. At first the ladies in the store thought it was cute that "I'm doing arts and crafts" they wanted to know what I'm making.....mabey a little needle point? making pillows? When I tell them bows and arrows they just look at me like I'm nutty.
It's pretty funny!
Thanks again.
