It's been a while since I posted a hickory bow. This one is a little shorter than I usually build,so with that difference ,I decided to post.Mockernut Hickory,@ 6" diameter.50#@26". It is 62" tip to tip,(the typical hickory I build is at least 68").It is 1 5/16" at the fades, and 5/16" at the string nocks. 8" of the handle section is static. Tip overlays,glue-on arrow rest, black dye on the handle and back, then lightly sanded off the high spots.Dyed calfskin grip. Holds 1" reflex, and is quite fast, and very quiet. ;) God Bless

Beautiful bow! I'm making the same style right now. My first bow though, so it probably won't look so pretty nor will it probably survive. But here's hoping! Great inspiration.

Really nice profile on that bow. well done.

Perfect Flatbow - Did you put it on a caul / form and heat in some reflex, or was the stave natural ?? I can't see how anyone could build a finer example !!!

Very nice, Pete.

WOW!

Thanks y'all.I appreciate it. Barebo,I put the roughed out,GREEN,floor tillered stave on the reflex form .Left it on the form a month, then started watching it's weight. When it stopped losing weight, and was dry,I heat treated, then tillered. It went from tree to bow in about 3 months . Thanks again for the kind words all. God Bless

I like everything about that bow, especially the way you went about re-flexing the limbs. Gonna have to try that myself.

Beautiful bow. One of these days I'm going to have to try a hickory stave. I figured it'd be too humid down here in Texas. Shows what I (don't) know. That is inspirational Pete.

Thanks again fellas. George, I use my hickory bows in east Texas ONLY when there are dry conditions. They are my "fair weather tackle",and, when I treat them as such, they are very dependable weapons with good performance. God Bless
