     Well, I was just wondering, just which wine would go well with that?  :P  Or perhaps, a nice smooth, Carolina Mountain Spring water, served room temperature, in a clear jar DE Ma's-on. ;)  I think that would up the ambiance to a more sociable level ;)  I know it would certainly enhance the dining experience, to a more tolerable level. 8)

     In Montana, they have an annual Bull Testicle Festival, in a little town somewhere in between Missoula, and Helena.  It is always after I leave from out there.  I think it is over now.  So Eddie you will have to wait till next year.  I haven't tried em.  Some friends of mine have, and said they are pretty good fried.  I just don't have the desire to try it, unless there wasn't anything else to eat......for a lonnnnng time! ;)  But as for why anyone would try it, I guess maybe wayyyy back in time, the lowest member of the tribe, got the left overs, and acquired a taste for em.  How do you think sausage got invented.  And can you imagine what the first person to eat an oyster must have gone through before actually thinking about eating that?  Must have been awful hungry.  But thankfully he did.  I love em.  Raw, stewed, fried, what ever.  As for the Bull testicles, I think there might be a possibility that I might have unknowingly ate some bits and pieces of em, since I am fond of head cheese.  I once bought a package of it, and lo and be hold, there was part of an eyelid, complete with lashes.  After I picked that out, it was pretty good.  So, if they will pack that in there too, I would assume that they would put the clappers, staff of life, and all, in also.  I haven't had any head cheese in some time.  I just might have to go to the store, on my beer run, and pick up a package. ;D

I always just skinned the whole squirrels head out and fried it real slow.  After it's cooked, you would just crack the top of the head open with a big spoon and dig out the brains. You can pry open the mouth and pull out the tongue, it ain't bad, but I don't care for the eyes.  I've ate plenty of them, when I had to.  I don't have to any more, so now I just shoot 'em through the head. >:D

     Not only do we eat the chicken eggs, but we eagerly drink alcohol, which is waste from bacteria...... ;D  So male bovine glands should not be a problem.  Like I said, I have friends who eat them fried, and like them.  I just haven't had the urge to try them.  I might if I had enough of the bacteria by product though...... ;D  Some of the S.A. Indians eat tarantulas, but won't eat an egg.  They think it is disgusting to eat something un born.  I guess it depends on what part of the world you are from.  I know I would not eat a duck egg with an embryo in it, like in some parts of Asia, or snake blood wine, in Vietnam, or some of the other exotic foods around the world.  Like they say in Italy, " Tutti E Gusti, sono Gusti."  All tastes are tastes.  Or in other words, to each his own.  I used to be called weird because I would eat smoked oysters, or squid in ink sauce for breakfast at the fire station.  But the ones saying that would only eat steak and potatoes, CBC. (Chicken, Broccoli, Corn )  Anything else was weird.  I told them they would not do well traveling outside of the US.  Maybe one day, when I finally get settled out in Montana, I will go to one of those festivals, and actually partake of the one time calf seed producer.  But being a man, there is just something about seeing them removed, and and fried, and then sliced!! I can't help but wince......:o :P :(

The funny thing is you don't even have to get hungry. Get people away in a survival or even just a camping situation for a few days and they will eat a lot of things they usually wouldn't. The mind kind of heals itself from the insanity of the detached modern life. I went on a trek with a bunch of 14-18 year olds. Some of these kids wouldn't eat anything that wasn't out of plastic wrap. By the 3rd day they were killing and eating rattle snakes. They had plenty of food, but their state of mind was healed.

     Recurve Shooter;
     Supposedly, a lot of your "scallops" in restaurants, are sting ray wings.  They make a beautiful leather also.  I have seen some at the gun show, and they were beautiful.  They buff the little nodules, and denticles down, and they have a neat pattern.  I was thinking about buying one but they wanted too much for them.  Now that I am retired I've gotten tighter than a crab's butt, and that is water proof! ;D

  Unless you are a total dumb a$$ from up North, there is no comparison with Bay Scallops. And I know there isn't of chance of Louisiana having them. You need clear water with grass,,, long gone there. the skins make excellent handle wraps, and I will trade for some skins.

     Yep real scallops are a lot tastier, but if you notice sometimes the scallops you get are all the same size......like a cookie cutter......You can tell the difference by the grain of the meat also.
We still have scallops over here on the east coast, used to see the boats going out Ft. Pierce inlet and come back loaded with them.
I don't know if they are still harvesting them now or not.  I have never been a great fan of scallops, but oysters I love.  Raw, steamed, fried, stewed, etc.  But just a word of caution, eat no shell fish, raw, or steamed !  I have a friend who is an epidemiologist, and she said there is not a bed in the US that is not polluted.  And steaming only kills the animal, not the bacteria.  stewing, or boiling, and frying will kill the bacteria.  So you can safely enjoy them cooked that way.  Man, can you imagine the leather from a giant Manta Ray?  Well, now we have a trade item for anyone who has the ability to catch sting rays.  It's like Trigger fish. Most people throw them away.  There was a guy who used to wait at the docks for the drift boats, and get all the Trigger Fish, that no one wanted.   I know my neighbors son had the chance for a large portion of fresh caught Grouper, and he opted for the Trigger fish.  There is a nice white fillet that runs along each side of the back bone.  In the Virgin Islands, there is a museum on St. Croix, called the Whim house, and it has Trigger fish skins, that were used for sanding floors, and wood products. ;)

Living on the coast-ive caught hundreds. They were always a pain because they take your bait and you have nothing to show for it. I might have to start saltwater fishing again for bow handles...

 If you shoot one with a bow, you better use a float jug and follow it or hang on to your bow tight.Wayne, only old people that eat raw oysters without Tabasco, die.

     Well, I guess that I had better not eat any more raw oysters, because I hate Tabasco sauce.  No flavor.  I like Louisiana hot sauce, or Texas Pete, or Trappeys, etc.  They have flavor.  Unfortunately, neither Tabasco, or any other sauce will kill the bacteria.  I tried that once in the VI when I was eating some oysters, and one tasted kinda sour like, and I was in a crowed restaurant, and did not want to just spit it out, so, I swallowed it, and the next one I loaded up with Tabasco sauce, and went on my way.  Well I almost died, I was so sick, and weak.  My eyesight was limited, and no peripheral vision, profuse sweating nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, all at the same time.  I was very lucky to make it home, without getting into a wreck.  Especially in the Virgin Islands.  I don't care if I am at a White house dinner, if I get something that doesn't taste right, I'm hocking up and on to the plate!  Pttooie!!>:D

 Roger, I like ém on the shell out of the cooler. Coming off the grill warm gives me visions of somebody rolling it in their mouth and then putting it on a cracker.

     Eddie that reminds me of a Friend of mine who had a big oyster feast going on with all the relatives down.  He said his one of his cousins had this huge oyster in the shell in his hand, and showed to him.  It was about twice the normal size of an ordinary oyster.  He said come on watch this.  So he followed, and they went to one of his Uncles, and the cousin says, " Hey Uncle Bob, look at the size of this one!"  His uncle looks at it and says man that is huge!  So the cousin says, betcha can't swallow this one down very easily.  So the uncle grabs the oyster, and splashes a little hot sauce on it, and gulps it right down.  The cousin then says man I can't believe you were able to get thing down.  Uncle Ed, and Uncle bill both tried it, and neither of them could get it down......erp...erp...oooop...erp...Uncle Bob?  You ok?  Anyway, he said laughed his a.. off!  Uncle Bob didn't seem to possess a sense of humor at the moment though...... ;D

     Hey it wasn't me, it was a Friend of mine.  I have always wanted to try that on someone though!! ;D  We used to be able to get all the oysters you wanted for free, in the intracoastal, in lake worth.  But that was in the early fifty's, before all the agricultural run off, and sewer out lets, and golf course runoffs.  It is a cesspool now.  Mullet have cancerous sores on them.  When I was a little kid, the neighbors would have big parties, like that, and they would have five or six big wash tubs, and hamper baskets full of them, and they would have corn, potatoes, and all fixings.  Those were great times.  Even if I was only five, they were tasty!   ;) :) Hey I am going up to Ga. next Friday, to help a Friend of mine teach a Clown class.  He lives in Jackson, and the class is in Dawsonville.  Any good places to look for rock up in that area?  he isn't familiar with our affliction.  I also am going to try to get up to Elberton.  Anything in that area?

     Yeah, Eddie, he is about thirty minutes from there. ( Flint River) We plan on going with his Girlfriend, and his dad, on a fishing, float, and just looking trip.  He said we could stop at some of the sand bars, and such.  What do I look for as to color, or outer crust.  Limestone, etc. ?  Ok thanks.  That is pretty good stuff isn't it?  Do you have to heat treat it?  In fact the Clown Class has been canceled, so I am going up for a week or so, just to ramble and look for stone, and visit with Friends.  Hopefully I can load up on it.  Anyone know anything about the Elberton area?  I have a Friend up there that I am going to visit also.  He and his wife invited me up when I get to Ga.  .  Anyway, I am going to start looking for stuff up there.  Let me know what to look for if you can.  Or anyone else out there that knows what the coastal plains stuff looks like in the raw.  And if it needs to be heat treated...... ;)  Thanks.

     Mullet thanks .  Ron showed some on a post he had.  Which is better, the river,stuff, or land stuff?  And do you have to heat treat it?  Or can you just whack it with a baseball bat like those ridgerunners in North Carolina do?  ;D Or just start flakin like Cowboy, and don't bother with heat treating...... ;D  If I can find a good source of it I will load up my truck.   ;)
