Patrick
-
We're up to 15 already I think we had about 30 last year.
-
Wouldn't miss it. I'm in.
I'll have to come up with another fun design idea. I kinda liked doing a fantasy/magical style one last year. I still have a design for a swiss army style one with interchangeable fore shafts. Hmmm, decisions, decisions.
-
I'm in.
-
If its not too late I'm in too.
-
ajbruggink your not to late.
-
If nobody else gets in by Sun Mon I'll draw names.
-
Sweet! Can't wait to get started!
Patrick
-
Kinda sudden but I'm in too.
-
We got 19 so far.
-
Count me in. I think some expectations would be nice for a standard. As in how many arrows are expected.... Want to make sure we are all putting in a even trade.
-
Chuck you only have to make 1 to send out but you can send as many as you want.
-
Count me in. Enjoyed the last one.
-
I'll draw names tomorrow night I just got in from the barn it's been a long day.
-

-
You can start sending out anytime.
-
:OK
-
I got mine heat straightened last night and the boo skewer nock reinforcement glued in. Going with viburnum.
-
Can't wait to get started, I got a cabinet job in my garage right now. Should have it done in a couple of days. Then I can get started on my arrows. Im thinking river cane with footing. Not sure though, I got some ideas rolling around.
Patrick
-
I'm hoping to get started on mine soon before it gets real crazy around here. I'll try my best to make something my victim will like.

Knoll you've got my attention. Excited to see what I'll be getting.
Last year I had fun with this arrow trade and planning on making it a tradition.
-
I've got one primitive(relatively) arrow and am going to make a fluflu , black walnut arrow with a self bulbous tip.
-
Can't wait to see it Pat.
I was working on some points & blades for G today so I started a point for my trade arrow.
-
I'm gluing my last feather on right now. Ill be shipping this week.
-
Wow Pearl your really making me feel behind. You must have got bit by the arrow bug at Marshall. Can't wait to see what you came up with.
Bjrogg
-
Me too :-)

Patrick
-
I got mine today :'(.
-
Looks like that one already killed something Eddie
Bjrogg
-
Is that one of them take down arrows, Eddie?
-
Yea, Brian, except no blood.
Pat, a three piece takedown. :)
-
USPS strikes again
-
Well, that's a real drag.
-
Have to agree with PD on that one.
-
How was it packaged?
-
Man that sucks! :NN
Patrick
-
How was it packaged?
If it was sent priority mail it should have insurance. I usually end up sending priority mail, most of the time there's no difference in cost. I usually send them in a almost indestructible container.
Bjrogg
-
Russ I'm shipping today, look for a PVC tube at your place by Thursday.

Bjrogg
Even if it had insurance, good luck on getting reimbursed for it. You have to provide a receipt showing how much you purchased the item for.
-
Guess I never had to try to collect Clint. I was always told my package was insured for $100 if I remember right. It may have been $50 now not sure. If I wanted to insure it for more it cost more. I was told you just got what it was insured for.
Bjrogg
-
The postmaster at our local PO told me not to bother adding extra insurance if it was something I made or supplies. If I can't prove what it cost they won't reimburse me if it's lost or damaged.
-
Interesting Clint, I'll have to ask mine again. When I use to ship my raw furs UPS years ago, I asked them. I told them I wouldn't know what they were worth till I sold them and if they were ruined in shipping they wouldn't be worth anything. They told me they were worth whatever I insured them for. Things may have changed and like I said I never did have to try collecting a claim.
Sorry about your arrow Eddie.
Bjrogg
-
Chris - on the lookout. Russ
-
I was testing one of the arrows I'm sending off, missed the target and the stone point hit a cast iron sink. The point just snapped in half but didn't come loose from the pitch glue with sinew wrap.
Oh well, time to mount another point. :OK )P(
-
Nice hafting job Pat ;)
-
That's when you know your pitch glue is just right Pat.
Bjrogg
-
I'm always amazed with the strength of good pitch glue and sinew. :OK
-
It was in a homemade triangle box with a gazillion plastic grocery bags. It was broke right where it said,"don't bend" :).
Postal Service insurance is worthless for what we make. It took Chris Cade almost a year to get reimbursed for a hand built Flintlock that showed up with a broken stock and fork lift tracks across it.
-
Mullet, That makes me feel sick. I tried to make sure it was well padded and labeled. I'm sorry, It looks like it was mishandled on purpose. Broken in 2 places ! Is the point ruined also ?
My wife mailed it out for me, I'll ask her if it was insured.
-
I'm always amazed with the strength of good pitch glue and sinew. :OK
.... and I am kinda amazed that there is a cast iron sink in "just missed the target" range to your target backstop.
Impressive glue. Please move the sink. Russ.
-
It may not help, I've done some pretty impressive misses. :-[ :-[ :-[
-
Wildcat, don't worry about it, it's not a big deal. You had it packed real good but it took a direct hit. And, yes the point is missing the tip, a wing tip and snapped at the base. I can make a nice triangle point out of it, though.
Insurance is not gonna be worth the effort unless you have documentation, ( which I do for mine), that you get $50 for your arrows.
I'm good.
-
Russ, the sink has been there for years. It's only been hit a couple of times. ;)
-
If you put an arrow through the drain hole do you get bonus points?
-
I asked my wife last nite about insurance. She said she did not put it on, it was almost $4.00 to ship it and $50.00 insurance would have been a bit over $8.00 so she did not do it.
-
It sure looks like it was a nice arrow before UPS got ahold of it. Could you tell us about it Wildcat Hunter?
Bjrogg
-
USPS Priority Mail is the safest way to ship.
I'm sending my arrow(s) out probably tomorrow.
-
Mine will be in a pvc tube!

Hold your water you youngster, it's coming. :OK
-
I will have a complete set from eventually :)
-
Finished knapping my point tonight hoping to get the arrow put together this weekend.
-
I'm getting close to ready to ship mine to. Hopefully finish it this weekend. Wildcat Hunter I sent you a PM a few days ago, if you could PM me your info.
Bjrogg
-
BJ if you don't hear from wildcat hunter leave me know I'll give him a call or stop in at his house.
-
Thanks Rob, haven't heard from him yet.
Bjrogg
-
Sorry I missed it. I have been away from the computer for a few days. The info is sent..
Thanks
-
The arrow shaft is from a Christmas trade several years ago. Its some type of cane - not sure. The feathers are Turkey and Crow. I found the feathers in our field, striped them and glued them to the shaft. The point was nice, I think its one Trapper Rob knapped out, not positive though. I'm not as skilled as Rob when it comes to that fine work.
-
Thanks for the arrow discription Wildcat, sure is a shame it didn't survive the trip.😞 I got your information hopefully I can get mine sent out this week if all goes as planned.
Bjrogg
-
Don't know when I will ship my arrow out it's all ready but the point. I'm searching all fields that have dirt showing looking for that perfect Ky Indian knapped arrow head and when I find it I will then ship.
-

I just really dig that Gutshot. I have never really considered hunting with another persons gifted arrow, but I'd be tempted to with that Karma.
Bjrogg
-
Oh man GUTSHOT, that's got me really excited. I love native replicas. That's exactly what I'm doing for my guy.
-
I'm glad but we he only places I can hunt is cut tobacco fields. Nobody want be breaking new ground till spring. But I'm off for 5 days next week so I'll find something.
-
Got mine finished. Just have to get it tubed up and in the mail.
-
Chuck, you should be getting a package tomorrow. (SH)
-
Got mine finished, just need to pack it up and ship it out
-
I will be dropping one in the mail today or tomorrow. Ed
-
Don't forget everybody should be shipped by Sept 12
-
Looking to get mine done this week.
Patrick
-
Shipped mine out on Saturday :NN
-
I've been putting miles on my feet this weekend and finally found a awesome authentic white and dark pink arrow head I found in a cut cornfield while dove hunting. This is what I've been waiting for so I should be ready to ship this a weekend. (AT)
-
I missed my weekend shipping, but had the wife drop it in the mail today. Thank you for doing this trade Trapper. Ed
-
Got an awesome arrow from Mullet. I have plenty of cane, but this is the first bamboo arrow for me. Amazing the amount of spine you get from such a narrow shaft. Straight, well made with a well made legal hunting stone tip.
Thanks Eddie.
I'd like to post a picture. I've always used photobucket but they changed their sharing policy. Any suggestions for reducing photos to a size I can post. Is there a new site you guys use?
-
Glad it made it, Chuck, enjoy. It's splined 45-50.
-
Got mine packaged up indesctructbable hopefully get to Post Office tomorrow.
Bjrogg
-
I am just learning to knapp, but I managed to get one nice point made this evening. It will be going on my trade arrow. The hard part is done now to make a straight stick!
Patrick
-
Chuck, I switched to imgur for posting pictures. Once I figured it out I found it much easier to use than photobucket.
-
I just sent mine out. I did get insurance on it. I sent it in PVC tube 35" long got $100 insurance cost $10.25 to ship. To add the insurance was $3.00 they gave me a receipt. If it doesn't make it to you in one piece Wildcat let me know. Hope you like it, I did. Kinda didn't want to let this one go.
Bjrogg
-
BJ, good luck collecting insurance.
-
Thanks Pat, hopefully I don't need it. I packed it so it should survive almost anything. Unless they lose it should be safe. Just figured for the $3.00 I'd at least feel like I tried to cover my bases. Never had to file a claim yet, but one thing that might help is small town Post Office. At least it's got people that will try to help me. One is my cousin who really appreciates the Primitive stuff I make.
Bjrogg
-
I hope you saved your receipt from where you bought your arrow BJ. That's the only way you can get reimbursed if it's damaged.
I finally got time to start on my arrow today. I got it dyed and sealed.
-

Patrick

Patrick
-
bjrogg Yours is finished. Looking to get it mailed tomorrow
Thanks flungonin, I'll be watching for it.
Patrick I sent mine out, but I did take some pictures first in case my recipient can't post them. I'm hoping to see some nice unbroken arrow pictures here soon.
Bjrogg
-
Me to BJ, I want to post them but I want my receipient to see it first.
Patrick
-
Bjrogg, I'll keep an eye out for it. I love getting these arrows. I'm in the process of making an arrow display rack, It will hold the trade bows I have and the arrows. I really wish I had a camera so I could post pictures of it. Another thing - I will keep the tube for next year, lesson learned.
-
Ill be finishing up the arrow this weekend. Been out elk hunting.....Dont want to talk about the results, still have 2 weeks left.
Just have to add the crest paint and fletch it. It will be as close as I can get to a Northern Paiute arrow....with a Paiute arrowhead a friends grandma found years ago. I'm really looking forward to receiving the arrow from GUTSHOT, I'm really excited that you found an arrowhead.
-
Wildcat if you want I can post some pictures but I'm going to wait till you get it. I'm sorry I was going to send a note and discription of arrow but I forgot to put it in tube.
Bjrogg
-
That sounds great, thanks.
-
Rob, My arrow should be there very soon. Shipped it out Friday. I wanted to make something different.
-
Well mine is shipped! Dakota, look for a 3 foot pvc tube to show up on Friday. Look for, "open this end," then follow instructions to remove the arrow.
I made a hunting arrow. I needed to make some for myself so I just made an extra for you! Hope you like it and you get a chance to burry it in between some ribs on a big ol buck!
Patrick
-
I sent mine out on Friday. Keep a look out for it there Pat B.

Awesome, I'm glad you like them. I do all my posting through my phone, so I just use an image resizer app and post using the attachments button
-
Work has been hectic lately and I kinda lost track of the date. Mine will ship tomorrow. It doesn't help that my arrow was rather involved. I went for the swiss army arrow with several interchangeable fore shafts.
-
bjrogg; what a beautiful arrow, thanks. It sure was protected in the tube with all the wrapping around it. Really nice point, nice work. My wife loves the design ( paint ).
Thanks
-
Glad you like it Wildcat. It is one of my favorites. I actually shoot that arrow a lot with target point on. I'll try to post some pictures and discription when I get a chance. Flungonin thought I'd get his yesterday but it didn't show up, maybe today
Bjrogg
-
Jeff your arrows will be sent out Monday. Sorry for being late. They have been made and packaged, just been super busy! Cheers- Brendan
-
No worries. I have been busy too, but I finished my arrows today as well and will also ship I hope on monday.
-
I got my trade arrow from flungonin today. I really like it Steve Thank You. I'm hoping to get some pictures tomorrow. I'm thinking it's a rivercane shaft? A nice sharp stone point. I like the looks of the stone. Have to tell me what kind it is. A two feather fletch. I'm not sure what type of feathers these are either, but my wife sure likes em. Thanks again flungonin, I'll try to post some pictures as soon as I can.
Bjrogg
-
I received my arrow from Patches today. Its cane with 2 pheasant feathers for the fletching's and has a very nice stone head. I will have to post pics tomorrow.

-
bjrogg, the shaft is river cane, died with walnut husk. The point is Georgetown and the feathers are Guinea feathers. Glad you like it
-
I have sent my creation to penderbender up in BC Canada. Who knows when it will arrive? Post office said a week - - but Mr. bender implied it is always an adventure getting packages.
I have also received a real nice arrow from PD. I will post some pics in the other thread soon.
Russ

very nice arrow flungonin. I kinda thought the feathers were guinea. They really are nice. Do you know what type of stone it is? Did you knap the point?
Bjrogg
-
I did not sign my arrow either. My writing is sloppy. I mailed it out last week. Haven't heard if it was received or not :-\
-
I received a very sweet Swiss army arrow from Dakota kid, DK you truly outdid yourself on this set. I'll post pictures over on the show n tell thread later.
