This is my first successful black locust bow. It had some chryshals in the handle but I fixed them by sanding them out and laminating black walnut maple then more black walnut. I used TBII for the glue. I am very happy with the results. It still bends through the handle. This bow is for me, It has been a long time sense I have made one for myself. It shoot really nice with very little shock. The stave was very tight grain locust. I wasn't sure it would make a bow but it did. The tips are true Brazilian rosewood, dug out of a barn in North Dakota. Thanks for lookin.

Hot dang man! She looks sweet! I have a big BL tree in my back yard. It's in a tree line so it's super straight without branches for probly 15 feet. If I cut It I can see the piles of wood and rock at the town barn. Decisions decisions >:D

Cut her on down Bruce.
Thanks Clint

Not sure how you got the chrysals in the handle but can see why you didn't in the limbs, smooth tiller. Nicely done Matt, real good looking bow.

Very impressive! Jawge

Awesome bow, the bend is beautiful and I love the handle. Did you use a blanket stitch on the grip, I have never thought of doing that I love the way it looks.

Thanks Greg, I got them because my handle wasn't wide enough. The tiller looked a lot worse before I did the glue up. I had to do some minor retillering but it wasn't too bad. The walnut was from an old set of acoustic guitar sides I had lying around. Finally out them to good use :)
Thanks Blackhawk, this is the one you gave me advise on in e beginning thanks.
Thanks Jawge
Thanks Grady, and yes I think it is the blanket stitch. It is my favorite because it covers the joint of the leather.

What all the others have already said Matt..Awesome great pics and attention to detail.Do you prefer the d bend through the handle design compared to a rigid handle?-Hammertime
-
Thank Dan
Thanks Chuck
Thanks Hammertime. I still haven't made a rigid handle stave bow. Only board bows and it's been a while. I like shooting both. The bendys are better on the shorter side. I am working on a few bows right now and one of them is a stiff handle. I guess I like both equally.
-
