got a good start on the stave that gstoneberg gave me, got it reduced down far enough to start taking the prop twist out, soon as I can find a little time, thank's for looking and thank's again George, Bub(http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/tt320/bubncheryl/blade001-13.jpg)

Good stuff! Much straighter than any i've started out on...keep up posted!
-
Don't stop now....keep it coming
-
nice stave gonna be a great looking bow when its done. if that twist doesnt affect the tiller or the shooting i tend to leave it alone, its gonna be nice for sure.
-
Looking good so far.Keep us updated. :)
Pappy
-
yeah keep the pics comin bubby.
-
Clean, clean, clean! Thats a nice stave witjh a flat back.
-
gotta give George the credit for the back, he took it down to the back ya see before he shiped it, Bub
-
Looking good Bub, you'll be shooting that in no time.
George
-
It will be hit and miss for a while, got 4 bows I'm building for family that I gotta finish up so I can concintrate on the bow, I really like the way osage works, might spoil me for other woods, Bub
-
A very fine start there bub, I'm with everybody else, cant wait to see more....
-
looks like a great start you've got there..I'll be watching this one to learn...I've got a couple staves with the same amount of twist.....keep the pics coming...thanks...
-
well I started to staighten her out a bit, got a pic of my okie heat gun setup, after coming off the form she's pretty straight with the tips fliped just a bit, I'll probablly recuve the tips some more as i get the time, Bub(http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/tt320/bubncheryl/blade001-15.jpg)

Starting to look like a bow!
-
Ya thats looking very nice so far! keep up the good work!
Josh
-
Looks like you took the prop twist out nicely. Good job! Ur almost there!
-
bubby your work is always a pleasure to see. Got one question, the C-clamp on the right of the form, is that metal to bow or do you have a pad on the clamp?
Lane
-
got a piece of leather glued to the clamp, the others all have pads, Bub
-
Gonna try that, thanks.
Lane
-
looking good. Did you rub the belly with oil before heating? Looks like you got some scorching. I like to use crisco. Noticed my dog likes it too.
-
got some time to do a little scrapping finally, think I gotta get it bending some more midlimb, what do ya think, Bub (http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/tt320/bubncheryl/blade-6.jpg)
-
the limb on the left still has some twist, makes it look a little flat
-
Hey Bub, looking good. Be careful on that left limb that it doesn't bend too much by the fade until the rest of the limb is working. You're right, the twist is making it hard to get a good read so I could surely be wrong. You're making good progress. Keep up the good work.
George
-
thats what I was thinking George, thank's, Bub
-
Looking good so far thanks for the update!
Josh
-
What George said, Looking good, get it bending a little more in the middle and go slow. They will naturally want to bend at the fads till you get the rest of the limb moving and a little set there will show up a lot at the tips. :)
Pappy
-
Id say more scraping mid limb onto the tips both limbs. But what does the tiller gizmo tell you? This is where a gizmo shines and aids big time when dealing with prop twist. I actually trust it more than a picture when dealing with twist.
-
got a chance to work on this bow some more, got it to 23" and to full brace, it's like 53# @ 23 and I still need six more inches of draw, want about 60# @ 29" so still gotta drop some #'s, and got the tips narrowed down. string's not centered on the handle but I think it will work, hope to get some arrows through it by the first of the week, Bub(http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/tt320/bubncheryl/blade007-14.jpg)
-
O ya looking much better now, :) :)just keep her even and you have almost got it.You can always tweak it a little with heat if it needs it to line the handle and string if it needs it after you shoot it some. Very nice job.How long is the bow ?
Pappy
-
I agree, that's looking real nice Bub. Good job.
George
-
Looks good! Keep up the good work :D
Josh
-
down the home stretch now bubby. looks really nice.
-
thank's guy's, glad to finally get to work it some more,
pappy it's 64" ntn, the string's on the handle and i'll leave it unless it just slaps the hell outta me, Bub
-
I got about 50 arrows thru her today, sucker really flings an arrow, and fast to, the string's off center abit so i used that as the arrow pass side, suprising enough it didn't slap me once, gonna glue some leather on to fill out the grip, narrow the tips a bit and do the finish soon as i get some more arrows thru her, still 'bout 70# but a smooth draw, i'll post some more pics when it's done, Bub
-
Looking forward to the finished pics! ;D
Josh
-
here'a a pic of the leather grip build up and the kind of groups that I'm getting with the first hundred arrows thru her at 20 yds, this bow shoots real nice, Bub(http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/tt320/bubncheryl/blade003-21.jpg)
-
Nice job on that handle and great shooting. I really like the look of that leather, almost looks like wood rings. Finish her up and post that money shot. :)
George
-
finally got her done, here it is, Bub(http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/tt320/bubncheryl/blade001-22.jpg)

Beautiful work Bub, I love it. George
-
thank' George, that texas osage is realy something, Bub
-
Sweet Jesus bubby, really nice bow there and 70# to boot :o think I just got a hernia....very nicely done sir.
rich
-
nice bow that aught to be a deer killer
-
thank's George, Rich, Ken, gotta tell ya that osage can spoil a guy, really nice to work, the only thing that kept me from finnishing it sooner was my damn wrist's, bub
-
I have bandsaw envy. What size is that? Looks perfect for cutting down staves as you have here.
Also with those mild recurves, how do you keep them from pulling out when tillering? Im about to start a gum bow with slightly more recurve in it than yours and the tips are alreday pulling out without being tillered at all!
-
blades it's a 14" saw that I got at a yard sale for $50, with the tips ya need to leave them a little thicker, not wider but thicker, and not much, I just kinda do it buy feel, Bub
-
Bubby, nice yellow bow!
$50 for that bandsaw!? :o :o Dang, I never find good deals on tools around here. :'(
-
matt look on craigs list, lots of stuff on there, Bub
-
I wanted to include this pic of the handle, I soaked the leather after cutting to fit, then wrapped it with braided cord sucking it tight to the bow, got a nice form fit and it embossed the leather to, Bub(http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/tt320/bubncheryl/blade-8.jpg)

I've gotten a few OK deals from craigslist, but it seems around here tools are either junk or still very expensive. The few "deals" on craigslist disappear minutes after being posted!
-
matt mines not some high dollar saw, but it get's the job done
-
I love the handle. I love the bow. Very nice work!
