Title: Weird novelty bow.
Post by: Del the cat on December 08, 2021, 07:34:12 am
I came across this on Youtube, it is actually a bow rather than the usual slingshot pretending to be a bow.
It will be interesting to try and work out if there is any merit in the arrangment.
I've not seen it before. (Fast forward through most of the build to get to where you see it working)

Weird but neat.  Good imagination

Wow, that is extremely cool.  Kind of a backward crossbow.

Very cool. Wonder if it could be upscaled

Pretty cool. Looks like a good place for some sinew and horn.

Inspired by the Sleestak bows from Land of the Lost?

I wonder if you could build this design effectively out of mostly PVC. Not really in the spirit of what we do here, of course, but a way to do it with readily available materials.

I’d like to see a f/d curve. Seems like it would place a ton of strain on the limbs in compression.

Well, one benefit i could think of was that you can put most of the mass in the front of the arrow, and use a real skinny arrow - no need to use a specific spine or anything, either!
