Title: Bamboo Backing & Core wood question...
Post by: Stingray45 on November 19, 2010, 01:14:09 pm
Does anyone have any experience using bloodwood with bamboo backing? Im planning to thinning the boo down to 1/8". Does anyone know anything about bloodwood, would it be strong enough in compression? I also have some ash I was thinking of using with thin boo, but I read some other posts where many didnt think it was strong enough in compression. I do have hickory that I could use but I was looking to see if anyone since those last posts may have tried working with boo & ash. Thanks.

I've made a couple of ELB tri-lams, with bloodwood as the core, ash backed, with osage belly. Both worked out very well. I've never used it as a belly wood.
