Neighbour Buggi and I recently made this bow for his wife Eva, a tri-lam hickory, hard maple and ipè with a Pink Ivory riser, overlays and underlays. The bow is 35#@26" and I was really surprised how good it shoots. String is 12 strand Flemish FF with blue fox silencers.
Here are some pics, fulldraw soon to follow!
Thanks for looking.

...some more.
PS: The Pink Ivory looks rather red in the evening sun, but believe me: it's pink. :-)

Stunning bows, nice crisp lines and very detailed.Great job!!
-
Thanks for all the nice comments!
Yes that thing came out pretty, and if it had 60#@28" you wouldn't be ashamed to carry it around even with the pink on it! It sure shoots good, though the limbs are constructed of what I had and thought would work; that's why it's a flatbow.
I'll for sure make one similar with heavier dimensions some time soon...
@yeti: we are in the northern slopes of the Eifel, an hour south of Cologne. It's 5 hours to Nürnberg, IF (!!!) there is no traffic jam...
@elk: yes full draw will come soon!

Yeah that's V pretty, maybe stick on a few sequins? Just kiiddin' I like it, nice shot of the stitching on the grip, I've been wondering about doing white thread on dark leather.

Very good looking bow! The woods compliment each other beautifully.

Thanks Del, thanks Hatch!

Here is Eva pulling the bow; was difficult to get a good shot with her boys running around, so I missed the full full draw, this is something like 24", maybe 25".

Very nice bow!
I like the aesthetic in every bit of it from the combinations of wood to the nock details and tiller.
... and the silencers really complete the picture of a girlie bow :D
Congrats man - beet she loves it - if it shoots as well as it looks, it's a real killer.
-
Beautiful bow and outstanding craftsmanship. Something to aspire to.
Full draw looks good. Appears you need to make another though as the little one in the full draw photo is drawing an air bow ;D

First, I do not make laminated bows, so I cannot comment on tillering or probability of performance, etc....but as a guy that spends copious time finishing out my stick bows, I feel I am qualified to state the aesthetics of that bow are in the top 1%. Wow, such wonderful attention to detail, blending of colors and textures, and attention to detail! Medicinewheel, anyone that gets one of your bows is fortunate indeed.
If that girlie bow fit my draw and was hunting weight I would carry it with pride in the woods and the deer should watch their step!

Thanks for the kind words JW!
-
Frank,
Is that pink Ivory as rare as wiikipedia says it is?
-
Thanks Scott.
Nate it's expensive, that's for sure, and I have never seen it in bigger pieces, but it wasn't a big deal to find it.
-
Thanks Frank, I'll have to keep an eye out for it at my local store.
-
That is one beautiful bow! I really like the way the tips are done, very nice detail! I could wish to get that good at building a bow! Also, it's a very good draw weight for archery competition in SCA shoots.

Thanks amberb!
Well here is a good place to learn more about making bows. Honestly whatever question someone on here should be able to give you the answer.
