Read or saw somewhere something about blackberry arrow shafts, any thoughts?

There are quite a few herbaceous herbs that can be made into arrows like horse weed, golden rod, etc. Give it a try and report back with your findings.

Russell, wait until after it's flowered but before it dies.

I wouldn't think blackberry would be strong/rigid enough. If you feel like getting abused by your arrow source material, multiflora rose is much better!

Doubt blackberry would hold up as well as other materials, large pith in that stuff. And I would think that you'd want to harvest them a bit larger than other shoot shaft materials. Some time ago I watched a a fella on you tube, think it was tribeofbenjamin talk about them. He talked highly of it and that surprised me. Maybe check into his information. A hardwood forshaft could really help I would think. If you do try I'd be interested in what you think.

I made arrows out of the stuff as a kid, nice enough, but wouldn't put more than 10# behind a shaft of that stuff.
