Sweeeet! Nice work.Gotta love it.Good dark red color on your beaver.Did you make your own pattern? They use up more material than a person realizes.Long ago I made some out of sheep skin, but really like those beaver.

Thoise look good and warm. Dont need em here in Yosemite, we have been hitting 60! Folks are hoping for a miracle March as we are only at 58% snowpack right now.

Ed, I took apart and old pr of leather mittens and kinda went from there, Took me awhile to figure out the thumb, inside out and right side out stuff. I had a pair of sheep skin xxlg mittens when I was a young and they were my favorite go to trapping mitten, wet hands still slid right in and oh so warm after ice cold trap session. Your mittens look great and I bet they are super warm. Most of our beaver here in Pa. run this dark color, once and awhile we get a pale  one. I got a couple of muskrats tanned that I may try next. Ben still cold here but least amount of snow in years, I think we got less than 50" total and usually have 150" by now. It's okay by me, alittle snow can go a long ways. Bob

Outbackbob48....Usually the kit beaver here are a paler color than older beaver and you saying they were small beaver is the only reason why I mentioned color.

Very nice Bob, that will keep them hands warm. Folks ant much on mittens in this part of the country but I have a pair my brother in law gave me that he had in the army, them things are warm, used them a couple years ago when I went ice fishing in the UP, they were great and worked better that any gloves I have used. :)

Pappy, one of the reasons mitten work so well for me is that my hands are always wet and can never seem to get gloves on with out a fight, mittens are perfect for things like ice fishin and water trapping where your hands are wet a lot, or ya need some fine dexterity that won't work with gloved hands. Hard for me to tie fish hook on with gloves on but quick bare hand works then back in my mittens to warm up ahhh. Bob

I hear ya Bob, that's why almost all my gloves have the fingers cut off at the 2nd knuckle, Miss Joanie gets mad at me because she buys me a pair of gloves and the first thing I ask her is where are the scissors.  ;) :) When hunting I use the hand warmer you gave me to keep my finger tips warm other wise I just wing it. :)

Outbackbob48......Us up north realize and know the benefit of a good pair of mittens.A person's fingers stay warmer when they are'nt seperated. One needs to dress appropriately when conditions call for it.They go on for me along with my ice pac lacrosse boots[good to -60 below] anytime I need to move snow or do chores or work outside in below O F. conditions. My tractor cab is not heated and generally have 3/4 mile of a lane to keep clear of snow.I've used them for ice fishing too.I keep more than 1 pair around as I've just plain worn holes through them in the past.I have an insulated deer leather pair that are 1 finger mittens.Dexterity to function with smaller things is easier. If index finger gets numb all I have to do is tuck it in with the other for a while.Used that pair a lot while coon hunting.
A long cuff over the wrist area helps to keep any snow from getting in there.

Ed, Having one of those ice pack la crosse, mitten mornings here, About 20 degrees with a good sharp northwest wind, about 6" fresh snow and still coming. Lake Erie is wide open so we will probably get dumped on. Gotta love lake effect snowstorms. Quess I,ll guard the woodstove and get into another sewing project for the day. Later Bob

You have fun with all that lake affect snow.I've heard of the type of snowfalls up there by the great lakes.A lot in a short amount of time. When I was a kid it was always a lot of fun.Nowadays it's just work.....Ha Ha.Although I like the looks and quietness in the woods after it snows a bunch.
