Finally got some pcitures taken. Comments are welcome on the bow, but not the pictures (I already know they're crappy :))
This is my Black Locust candidate for Turkey season go-to bow. Approx. 70lbs at about 27", 60" NTN. Simple piece of what I believe to be goat leather handle stitched on with real whitetail leg tendon. Bow is pretty well straight with a slight touch of natural reflex in the last 5 or 6 inches of each tip.

and after shooting takes a tad bit of SF that goes away after an hour or so.

Wow. >:( Sorry about the pics guys. I'll have to try to fix. I went through and rotated them and all before posting, so I don't know what happened. I'll try to fix tomorrow.

The pics aren't that bad. Nice looking bow!

That's a very nice stick for sure. Like the single side knocks and the overall profile is great. Suits this old mans taste to a tee.

Nice solide bow there. By the way, how large are turkeys where you are for you to have a 70lbs bow? That full draw makes the top limb look a little stiffer. It might shoot better if you hold it the other way down.
I like the simple, native style nocks.

Awesome bow, that should kill some feathers for sure ;).

duantless,
believe it or not but 70# is good for turkey
their wing feathers are so tuff it s like body armor
ive shoot some at less than ten yards with my 50# wheelie bow and never had a pass thru
arrow sticking out both sides yes, pass thru no
iva also shot them with my 12 ga at less than 15 yds and had the wing feathers full of 3"mag #5 bb's
i only go for head shots now ;)
i dont like pulling more than 55-60 at the very most

Thanks everybody. I'm just happy to get pics up of a bow for once. :)
Dauntless, I'm not sure if the top limb is a tad stiffer...it could be though. If it is that's ok with me because if either limb is going to be a tad stiffer, I prefer it to be the top one. But when you shoot it for a while and unstring it, everything looks very even so I'm not going to mess with it either way. I want a high poundage shorter bow for blind shooting birds this year. Last year I used a black locust bow, of the same length but about 20-25 pounds less. I never got a shot on a buzzard last year but it would have had to have been a head or neck shot and not very far out. With this bow I feel a little more secure that if I can't get a head shot I would be ok with chest or wing base.
Thanks again for the comments,
CP

Looks like trouble for the turkey tribe. Good Luck ! ' Frank

Thanks Okie. This bow is a mix of a few different styles, I like it as well and will probably make more like this. :)
George, thank you sir. The comments and wish for success mean a lot coming from you. I will do my best to take a turkey with it.
Frank, I sure hope it is! ;) I've shot it just a few times, but haven't had a chance to shoot since the weather has been nicer now. The few times I shot it, it really packed a punch.

Thanks Eric. Opening morning (which is the 27 of April here in IN) I plan to be in the woods and thinking about nothing BUT pulling back and smoking a thunder chicken.

That's a beauty, good luck!

Very very nice!! Love the nocks. Hope to make one outta Black Locust one day. Good Luck with the Turkeys!!
-
Thank you Postman, Parnell, and Acutus - I sincerely appreciate the kind comments. If I get a chance this weekend I'll post the arrows I plan to use with it. I haven't been able to focus on anything these past few days, I'm so anxious for turkey season to open. CANNOT WAIT!
The only thing I haven't decided is if I want to purchase a tent blind or just put up some blind sheets that I can sit in the middle of and pop out at the right moment like a Jack-in-the-Box and shoot.
