Hi guys!
I'd like to share with you my newest creation. It is bendy handle American Natives inspired shortbow. It's made from Sycamore wood. Only 109 cm ntn drawing around 55lbs at 20". Finished with varnish. Arrow pass plate made from Osage Orange and cow horn. Some flax twine on handle.
(Tiller pic was made before putting final touches)
All the best!

One more:)

And the arrow plate close up...
-
Do not see many sycamore bows around here, very cool. Bet it is a beast to draw.
-
The bend looks good. Nice work on the tiller.
-
Nice bend on this nice little bow. Is this European sycamore, plaintree?
Is the shrub in the first pic a viburnum?
-
Thank You StickMark! Yeah that's crazy stick!
Thank You SlimBob. Did my best!
Thanks Pat. Yes it's European Sycamore (Acer Pseudoplatanus). No, it's Ribes nigrum. But I have Viburnum also in my garden. :)

That looks like a sinew string? Like how you left it wide and flat...Looks like a nice shooter...

That’s a lot of bow for 43 inches of Sycamore! Plus, very nice character and final touches! Good Job!
It would be interesting to know how much that shorty weighs.

burchett.donald Thanks! Shoots sweet so far! The string is made from flax twine sir.
Thank you very much for your kind words NonBacked! Yes, that's a lot, but so far it lives. :BB
The bow weight is 270g.
-
Very cool little bow! I like its width profile. How wide is it? Great job :OK
-
Thanks a lot Ben, I appreciate it. The limbs in widest are about 2" wide and handle about 1,3".
-
The tiller does look nice. How is the hand shock?
-
So, that,s a maple? Not the same as our sycamores. None the less a great little bow. :OK
-
Sick bow. I'm not sick of seeing this bow and I wouldn't be sick of seeing more bows like this sycamore!
Seriously, though it is a cool bow.
-
Truly inspiring! Gives me hope for my sassafras. Great job on the tiller and geometry of the bow.
-
Thank you mikebarg. It aint bad!
Yes Pat, that's a maple. Perhaps it grows differently here in Poland. Thanks a lot!
Haha I get it, glad you like it Hamish, thanks!
Pleased to hear that! There is always hope but it needs all the eforts... Thank you and good luck with your wood!
All the best guys! :-D
