Has anyone heard about if mojam is gonna happen this year?
-
Putting this note in here like a Post-It note for later so I can follow. I am going somewhere this year, somewhere outa town, somewhere fun. Time won't allow for the Tennessee Classic, nor Marshall. But, dang it all, it's gonna allow for something!
-
If MOJAM is a no-go, I am considering trying to have a small gathering here in western Nebraska. Very primitive, byob food and water. This is a small village (lt 1k). Very early in the planning, also! I don't know what the hell I am doing, or getting into :fp :fp >:D (lol) (lol)!

I'm going to the devil's hole knap in but I really wanna go to a bow get together and mojam is by far the closest to me
-
Allyn,
You MO folks have the advantage there, all those shindigs are fairly close. For JW and me it is 600-1200 miles. If MOJAM is a no go, we can likely try to do a mini jam here. We will have a feel for what we can handle, as we are having a music jam/housewarming next month. It is rather less humid out here as well
Hawkdancerj
-
Yeah I really like missouri I've always lived here. If mojam wasn't so close I prolly wouldn't go anywhere. Once my son is a little older I'd just bring the whole family
-
Robin says that Mojam is still on for July 15 - 17. Woot hoo!!!!!
-
YEE HAW!! only 600 miles! Likely try to get there early to set up camp!
Hawkdancer
-
Heck yeah, I'm stoked : )
-
Robin says that Mojam is still on for July 15 - 17. Woot hoo!!!!!
That's good to hear. Hope it stays "on"... ???
I'll need to block off that time at work.
-
I sure hope it happens. I need it. I need it baaaaaddddd.
-
MoJam - yep, I'm in the category as well. It will be good to see y'all.
-
I sure hope it happens. I need it. I need it baaaaaddddd.
I'm right there with you brother! Had a little taste at the gathering I had at my place and I definitely need mojam for sure!
Patrick
-
MOJAM is a no go for me this year. I am starting a new job in June, and the timing just isn't right. I hope yall have a great time with cool evenings and no storms.
-
im not really sure if i can go... i really want to if i can... we will see!!!!
-
That's sad to hear Kevin. A fella with your crazy bow ideas will be missed. (-S
I really am super excited to see everyone again. Maybe even do some teaching. Haha. I had three people come up to me at the classic this past weekend telling me how I helped them make their first bow and now they are hooked. That really makes me happy and it tore me apart not having mojam last year. I'm anticipating a record year this year.
Russell, I sure hope you amd your dad can make it out!
-
I remember Kevin's 72 hour marathon gig from my first MOJAM! I think he slept for a week afterwards :BB :BB :BB :BB (lol) (lol)
Might have to alter my plans and drag Russelland the Professor to MOam!
Hawkdancer
-
Whatever it takes Jerry!
-
Gotta di it Jerry!!
Dave it sure feels good when people tell you that. I remember when one of the guys I taught to make his first bow was at mojam teaching someone else. That was cool!
Patrick
-
Guess I better get the MoJam ale a brewing - got the makings for a kick ass Irish Red, and enough time to age it! Probably better bottle the mead, too!
Hawkdancer
-
Jerry, this time we will share one of those reds! I love a good Irish red!
Patrick
-
Can't wait for Mojam. For the first time in years, I'm actually going to build a bow! Looking forward to seeing ya'll. Dave and Giff, me and Loyd will be in the same place. See you there.
-
Save me a spot on the hilltop!
Hawkdancer
-
Glad to hear it Butch, you bringing any wood carvings with you?
Hawk, east side or west? West has the power pole if I recall correctly..

Check your compass Dan, the power pole is on the East side of the road. ;D
-
East side, but I am bringing the long power cord, and some extra boards if I have to cross over, more shade on the west side, but nice folks on both sides!
Hawkdancer
-
Heh, yup, I was reading the compass backwards.
Won't be long, looking forward to seeing y'all.
-
MoJam officially starts 7 weeks from today, but several of us will be setting up camp the weekend before. Looking forward to seeing everybody again!
Neal
-
Glad to hear it Butch, you bringing any wood carvings with you?
Giff, Got something set aside for you.
-
5 weeks from today is the official start of MoJam!
4 weeks from Saturday is when the early arriving people start showing up :)
Neal
-
Summer Solstice is Sunday June 20th.
That's when MoJAM fever sets in big time for me.
Butch, thanks, appreciate it.
Paul, you got your days off scheduled? We had a good shoot at Three Trails.
-
20 June is a big day this year! Summer Solstice, Celtic Midsummer, and Father's Day! There is, however, only one cure for MoJam fever ! BE THERE!
Hawkdancer
-
Hi gifford,
Yep, got the whole week scheduled OFF and permission from "The Boss" to head out and arrive Monday. She'll be following over on Wednesday so she won't miss the fish fry.
(And so the fish fry won't miss her buttermilk pie... ;))
-
Get us a good spot, Dan. I'm probably coming on Wednesday. Looking forward to seeing folks, the fish
fry, and maybe some of Jerry's red ale. Larry
-
Paul, I plan on setting up just down slope from you. Have you heard from Lenny?
Larry, hope to, Tuesday A.M. is my plan. Don't forget to bring your bow and/or stave this time. :-)
-
MOJam weather is here. See everyone in about 4 weeks. I will be out of town the weekend prior but should be back by Tuesday. Cant wait. Keith
-
Yep, it is getting to be MoJAM weather alright.
Keith - have a good trip and looking forward to seeing you and the rest of MoJAM crew.
-
The red ale is in the fermenter pail, will pitch the years and seal tonight!
Hawkdancer
-
4 Weeks to official start!

Neal

The ale goes into the secondary fermenter tomorrow and will bottle next week! Should be a real "kick a$$ red!

We are definitely going to have to have a cold one together this year Jerry!
Patrick
-
For sure! I will have to do a tastes test beforehand!
Hawkdancer

Hawkdancer
Jerry, quality control is important!
Three weeks from today is official start.
Neal
-
Marley and I will be there early. It's really getting exciting now
-
So if I decided to stay the night how does that work can I pitch a tent anywhere or are there actual sites
-
Any place that doesn't already have a tent! Or poison ivy! No extra charge for bugs! (lol)
Hawkdancer
-
There aren't any bugs at mojam. There is a large area available for camp with a few overflow spots. Camping is free and there is free ice to help keep you cool as well. I would say most people do camp at this event as the bowmaking can carry on into the night.
Ill be gear gathering this week. I'll have a bonus truck coming this year so I can bring twice the stuff!
-
So if I left at the crack of dawn Saturday and stayed the night would it still be a full day on Sunday?
-
Can't wait to see everyone
-
Allyn,
Saturday is the busiest day, but a lot of people head out late Saturday night, and it sounds like most are gone by noon Sunday (I usually head out late Saturday night). If you can make it out Friday evening and stay all day Saturday, that would probably be better than Saturday/Sunday. There will likely be people in the pavilion working on bows all night Friday, and some night shooting going on.
I can't wait to see everybody again! Looking forward to meeting you in person Allyn.
Neal
-
Thanks Neal I'll try to work that schedule out instead
-
I’m bummed I won’t make the event. I’m have to be in MI that weekend. But I’m contemplating coming in for a quick visit early in the week though. Maybe I’ll beat Dave to the gate. Oh heck, he’s probably already camped there. Who am I kiddin’?
-
I reckon Dave will be there to unlock the fate! Maybe we can be right behind him! :BB >:D (lol)
Hawkdancer
-
I'm trying to be there Friday night. I hope you can make a stop by. See you all very soon!
-
Hey Dave, are you still working the band saw? Gonna make a bow after a bunch of years.
-
The gate will be open Saturday morning the 10th for the early birds. Look forward to seeing everyone. Keith
-
The red is bottled! Hope to. Get there Tuesday. Anyone know if Seirra Bullets in Sedalia still has their retail shop open. I need some points for really fast "arrows" >:D :-M (lol) (lol)!
Hawkdancer
-
Jerry,
I think I will be going through Sedalia tomorrow. If I get a chance I will go by Sierra and see if they are open.
Neal
-
Ill be there to push open the gate on Saturday morning Keith, just leave the key somewhere I can find it.
On a side note, if anyone can bring me a sourdough starter I would be very thankful.
-
Eric's gonna beat ya there. ::)
-
Dave,
I will start a wild one tomorrow- it should be ready by next Tuesday!
Neal,
Thanks!
-
Thanks Jerry!!
-
I hope to be in on Monday.
Sue's coming on Wednesday and should be bringing a buttermilk pie for the fish fry. :)
-
So should I bring rock, bow blanks, staves, and tools or what's a good recommendation for my first time?
-
jerry - it's open M-F 0930 to 1630, G
-
Jerry, I went by Sierra and the retail shop is open. I think Gifford posted the hours.
Allyn, all I can say is if you think you might work on it, bring it and the tools to work on it with. I usually bring way too much stuff and never use 3/4 of it. If you have a stave horse or work bench you may want to bring it. Bring you some food, there will be some food for sale Friday and Saturday (gravy and biscuits, hot dogs, and maybe burgers). If there is anything you may want to trade, bring it. If you are looking to trade for something or acquire something, just ask around. You can get most anything you need for bow making and anything that goes with it. This list is kinda vague but you never know what direction your trip is going to take. I went to the Tennessee Classic once with all my bow making material and ended up knapping the whole time.

I am really into knapping right now and I feel like that's where my focus is gonna be. I love the stuff
-
Neal,
Great, I need to get down there Wednesday- getting short in the modern stuff!
Allyn,
You still want an orientation on flintlocks and arrows?
Hawkdancer

Hawkdancer
Arrows yes flintlock maybe

I was really hoping to make it but I’m doubtful I can. Wheat harvest is coming as soon as it quits raining.
I’m really missing everyone and I’m still really bummed that Marshall Michigan meet was cancelled two years in a row.
Allen, I haven’t been to MOJAM. If it’s anything like Our Michigan meet. Bring some spending money or trade stuff. My first meet I went home wishing I would’ve brought more stuff home. I’m not a big spender, but our meet is a great place to get supplies you need. Reasonably priced and no shipping cost. You get to see the stuff and talk to the people.
Have fun.
I’ll be thinking of you guys
Bjrogg
-
I am really excited to talk to people and meet folks from here face to face.
-
Dave, Robin will have the gate open Early morning Saturday. I’m leaving for Denver in about 30 minutes. Will be back Tuesday. Everyone drive safe and see you soon. Keith
-
Good to hear people fired up about Mo Jam.I should be there by friday for sure.I'll pitch a tent and squeeze in somewhere.Might change my mind though and get things in good order here better before and get there on a wednesday for that fish fry. It's the best!!!sBringing lots of trade stuff.I love trading and meeting different people and shooting the old true stick and string.
-
I hope you do make it early ed. I'm packing the truck tonight!!!!
-
Yep, we're in the throes of MoJAM fever. Loading the Silver Streak slowly and methodically instead of raising the back end and heaving it in at last minute. lol.
-
I am very near the heaving and chucking stage! I think I will bring the more modern cabin tent and hope we don't get a 4" downpour! It has a sewn in floor to keep most of the creepy crawlies out, and room for an table and chair inside.
Hawkdancer
-
I'm really wishing I could go. Yall do your best to have fun without me. I know it won't be easy, but I'll be with you in thought and spirit.
-
Well Gifford, I started loading mine slow and steady but then the weather set in and now I'm doing the heaving and throwing method in the morning. Rain or shine I'll be there later in the afternoon tomorrow.
Allyn T, I'm thinking of getting rid of some knapping stuff, I might consider trading some or all of it. Hit me up, I'll be in the pavilion or the big camper group.
Ed, I hope to see you at the fish fry!
Coby, I hope you stop by earlier in the week!
Jerry, I'm looking forward to one of those reds! That's one of my favorites!
Paul, I've been on the keto diet and that butter milk pie foes not jive with my diet. But I garonte I will eat some!
I'm so looking forward to seeing everyone I need mojam!
Patrick
-
I'll be loading up today and hope to be in tomorrow as well.
Patrick, congrats on the diet. I don't think buttermilk pie is "diet friendly", (except on the "See Food Diet") the one I'm still on ...
;)
-

Patrick
I will def do that. I'll be there Friday evening! I'm gonna bring anything I think someone might want.
-
Hey Ed, could you bring the scrapers you use for dry scraping rawhide? I would like to see them in person if possible.
Thanks!
Neal
-
The crowds are starting to gather here at mojam. Arrows and rock are flying and camps are popping up new everytine you turn around. Targets have been replaced in anticipation of heavy use in the next dew days. Bathrooms are in place and trash cans have been spread out. They are rumors going around of the shirts being picked up and brought in soon to!
-
Sure wish I could be there Dave. Wheat harvest is on and I can’t get away.
Hope you guys have a great meet. Take pictures and tell me some stories. It’s been to long since I’ve been with my bowyer friends.
Bjrogg
-
Got alot of family things but as it stands I will come down Saturday and say my hellos and shoot the range.... Ain't been able to make mojam or the classic for a couple years and really need to be around some like minded folks for Abit, lol
-
Got my tire patched today so I'll be good to go Friday. Hawkdancer how will I find you once I'm there? I might just walk around yelling your screen name lol
-
im so bummed i dont get to go,life got in the way, enjoy yourself boys, take and post lots of pictures.MM
-
So my son just came down with hand, foot, mouth disease so I won't be making it to mojam after all
-
Just returned back from Mo Jam.Got there in time for Jon W's fish fry which took a half dozen people to do with I think 4 fryers....ha ha.Everybody got their fill is all I can say.Right up there with a Thanksgiving dinner.
I've only got 1 picture sorry to say.I was pretty much confined to the pavillion helping people make bows is my excuse.Maybe others took a few pictures.
Perfect weather throughout the event except for a couple of hours of rain 1 day.I exchanged quite a few phone numbers with new people before leaving.
Picture is of Arrons' horn bows.Fantastic piece's of work.Picturs do not do it justice.
PS....Patches I wish I would of read your request about the hide scrapers.I would of taken them along.
-
Thanks for the picture Ed. I sure wish we could have made it. Going to work out one of these years.
Those horn bows look awesome.
Bjrogg
-
That would be awesome BJ.You would'nt regret it.
-
Weather was tolerable, Fish fry was great, everyone ate, got some good info on both bows in progress, stayed at the top of the hill mostly, got to shoot some, forgot my glove and arm guard, had to get new items, enjoyed the whole show! Good job, Robinl. Auction was fun, and I wasn't the last one to leave! An Irish toast : May we all be together again this Time next year!

That's a Great montage there Max.
Thanks for posting it. :OK
-
Thanks for the pics Marc. MoJam has been on my bucket list since I first heard about it many years ago. A 1400 mile drive and Missouri in July have kept me away. Hopefully one day I'll make it.
-
We had nice weather this year Pat
-
It is a heck of a long drive, but the weather this year was good! Only rained once, and the heat index stayed below 95f (lol)!
Hawkdancer
-
Good vid of Mo Jam Max.Thanks!!!
A big THANK YOU to Robin and the staff there too for keeping everybody happy.Could'nt have it better!!!Great food and drink available at all times.
If a person has the time it's great to sight see along the way to an event like this.I always like seeing the BIG MUDDY along the way.
-
Each and every one of the Marshall Bow Hunters staff go out of their way every time. You fellas run a heck of a show. MoJAM 2021 was an unqualified success and they even arranged to have great weather. Lows of 60s and highs of 80s, in July in Marshall, well, don't get much better than that. Thanks guys.
-
I cant begin to say how much I missed mojamlast year and how happy I was to be there this year. Hank you to everyobe that was there for making my week amazing. There is no other place and no other people that I would rather spend the week with. The hollowed grounds of mojam keep a special place in my heart or sure! I was excited to see new faces with a passion for bowbuilding. Watching them pour themselves into their new bows is always my favorite part, and while attendance was low, it was made up for by their enthusiastic energy amd spirit. Thank you to the Marshall bowhunters and Robin especially. I can't wait to spend another week in the happiest place on earth next year.
-
Thanks Ed 8)
I had a really good time myself and made some new friends ;)
The hot dogs and pulled pork hit the spot, and the pot luck was a treat :)
-
Wish I would have had the time and energy to walk around and put names to faces.
-
Thanks for the pictures. I’m going to get there someday. Lots of people there I miss and lots I still need to meet.
Bjrogg
PS everyone from this event that I have meet. Really good people who are very passionate about sharing their knowledge and passing it on.
-

Well, Pat, you're just gonna have to suck it up and do the MO trek. Because there's no way it's going to move out of state!
:D
