There, fixed that for ya Pat!
-
Thanks, John. It would be great to see you there again. :OK
-
Yes it would. ;)
Pappy
-
I plan on being there early!
-
Shoot dates duly noted on my calendar.
Been duly noted and marked on calendar for 4 years now.
One of these days I will make it. Here's hoping this is the year.
-
This could be the year that Cahl and I make it to the TN Classic. We will know for sure in a couple weeks.
I do have a question though... Will the ground take tent stakes or do I need to bring a jackhammer?
-
I pitch my tent on gravel and get through with no trouble. Most camping spots are on grass so stakes go in easy.
-
Thanks PatB.
I got to MOJAM and found out the ground was actually cement. I had to do some acrobatics to get my stakes in. After that, I have been throwing in t posts and a post driver when I tent camp.
-
You guys will love the Classic Coby. If you get there early in the week it's a lot like Marshall. Towards the weekend it gets busy.
-
I think me and the kids are going to try to make it again this year. Maybe this is the year I make ojam, mojam, classic and marshall!
I know me and the kids have found memories there despite Vincent's swamp foot, marleys scratched up leg and crying at her Olga booga initiation. Yeah... we are gonna try and make it this year. Coby, tell cahl I want a rematch but I'm bringing my board.

There's a home field advantage in chess...? ???
;)
-
Hopefully there is!
-
Coby, tell cahl I want a rematch but I'm bringing my board.
Home court advantage. I see where this is going lol
He says it doesn't matter what board you play on....then it was followed up by some pretty awesome smack talk. ;)

He's serious with his chess. All in good fun, of course.

Smack talk in Chess ??? , and I thought I had heard it all. Maybe they could play around the napping pit so we can all watch. :) Really looking forward to seeing all my friends, it is always a good time and never rains. ::)

We will be there!! Can't wait!
-
Cool, Cody. Looking forward to seeing you again. :OK (=)

Cody, ya riding that bike again :o :D Bob
-
Cody, ya riding that bike again :o :D Bob
Not unless he's upgraded to a 2 seater ;)
-
Just install a set of pegs on the back or have her ride the handle bars. That's how we always did it
-
Great new Cody, look forward to seeing you again. :)
Pappy
-
Thanks, John. It would be great to see you there again. :OK
I am actually considering it....though WHY, I cannot say. 1) I didn't shoot the course either times I have been there. 2) I barely got any bow work done because with my ADHD I cannot concentrate, even at 3:00 a.m. because there are still lotsa people up and around and EVERYONE is interesting. 3) I sure as heck don't get any sleep!
-
...but other than that. :-\
-
...but other than that. :-\
Oh, but that Saturday night dinner....oh...oh my....
-
Cody, I 'd love to get one of your presses from you. I meant to pick one up at Marshall last year.
-
Hope it works out JW, love to have you back . Have you heard from John B. ?? Hope he is doing well, haven't seen him around much.
Pappy
-
I bought 2 Boston butts on sale totaling about 20# that I plan on slow cooking on the Thursday before the Classic like I did last year. If anyone wants to contribute we'll need hamburger buns, coleslaw and whatever else goes along with pulled pork.
As before, those who help get to be first in line. After they are all satisfied it will be open to whomever for whatever is left.
-
Sounds good Pat, I can do some buns and sauce.
Pappy

Pappy
Now that he has a new timing chain installed on his ticker he is doing much better. He just thought he had extreme buck fever whenever deer showed up (remember how he used to blow it on EVERY shot from treestands, etc?) Turns out his timing would advance to redline with bad cadence and he'd get all arrhythmic. Now with the new timing chain installed he is a stone cold killer, the artificial rhythm stays steady and regular. Kilt him a deer right off in the season! Silly fool is talking getting an airplane now, too.
Naw, he ain't dead yet. His wife won't let him. ;D
Sounds good Pat, I can do some buns and sauce.
Pappy
Pat wised me up to Johnny Harris BBQ sauce. Since then I gave up on trying to make the perfect barbecue sauce!
-
Glad to hear he is doing well, tell him he can land his plane in the big field above the cabin. ;) :) :) :)

I'll be bringing some more!

That's great Cody, I have a couple of the commercial ones, but they aren't near as tough as the ones you make. :)

Looks like the entire Kopec Family is coming. John is going to take off work and come with Cahl and I.
John is hoping to finish up the bow he started at the Marshall Rendezvous last year. We have some dogwood logs that we would like to split up too. They will be a year old by then. It will be nice to see if we can make something with. It was sad to see the tree come down. I'm glad I caught it before it was cut into firewood. I'm hoping to get the extra weight off the bow I made at MoJam and put the cocobolo overlays on it.
Cahl has outgrown his current selfbow. We measured his draw at the Kalamazoo Expo using the "penguin method" and it's reading between 30 and 31. (Editing my statement: Was talking to a guy tonight at league and he measured him at 28. We think maybe his shoulders were rolled forward before when he was measured.) (A) (A) (A) Can someone please cinch him up? He's growing too fast. Hoping he will work on another bow down there with you all.
Please let me know whatever I need to bring for pot lucks, donations for auctions/raffles, etc.
-
That great new cjkopec look forward to seeing y'all. As far as pot luck Saturday night, anything will work. Most just bring one of their favorite camp dishes. :) Always a great feed. :)
Pappy
-
Where is Bear :-\ count down has started only 62 days until it starts, less for some of us. ;) :) :)
Pappy
-
Yeah, where is Bear. He usually runs the countdown each year. :-\ I hope we can get there without his guidance.
-
Pat I’m down for some more buns and a couple big bags of chips like I brought last year unless there is something more specific you’d like me to get.
-
Sounds good, Dylan. Thanks
-
It's coming up quick. We are getting pretty excited about our first outing of the year and our first time coming to the TN Classic. We look forward to seeing some familiar faces and making some more friends. It seems like each time we travel we are recognizing more and more of you all.
-
Coby, you and Cahl will really enjoy the Classic. (=) -C- (--) :BB (R (-S (W (SH) :-K 8) :OK
-
I feel sure you will enjoy it, it is like a big home coming to me and Miss Joanie, the archery shoot it self is fun but the meeting and greeting is better. :) Seems every year I meet new folks from here and other online sites and they for the most part just what I expected, fine people. ;) :)

I'll look you up, I may not be there but Friday and Saturday but I'm hoping I can see everyone this year!
Lord willing and the Mississippi River stays in its banks this year!

Great new Patrick, look forward to seeing you, and yes I hope the old Miss stays in it's banks this year. :-\

Looking forward to seeing you again, Patrick. I hope Ole' Muddy stays in her banks also but looking up river it makes me wonder. (A)

It will be great to see you again Patrick. I still need to snazzy up my bow with those cocobolo overlays. It’s going to be a great summer of all things archery. Looking forward to getting it started soon.
I might make a trip up to Woodcraft and look in their bin for some small block for more overlays. Any suggestions as far as species to keep an eye out for and to avoid?
-
Most exotics will work, as long as it's a good hard wood, and pretty, it has to be pretty!
-
Won't be able to make it down this year unfortunately. Hope everyone has a blast!
-
Too bad Doc. You know how much we need our psychiatrist. We'll miss you.
-
Where is Bear (-P ! Bob
-
Looks like I'll miss it again this year. Found out I have prostate cancer and they want to start the treatments that week.
-
Oh no Eddie, sorry to hear about the cancer. Do what you have to to get past it. You are surely in my thoughts, and Kathy.
We'll miss y'all again this year.
-
Sorry to hear that Ryan, you will be missed, I heard that Eddie, hope all goes well. Been there done that so I kinda of know what you are in for. Stay in touch. :)

-
Thanks everybody. It should be okay, PSA's only 4.7 and they will put the seeds in May 1st. Caught it real early.
-
Good to hear, Eddie. Hoping for a speedy recovery. :OK

That's good new Eddie.

I have a quick question since we have never attended before. I'm planning our meals out and wonder if there is a concession there that I can send the boy to for lunches and possible a breakfast or two?
-
Yes but it's not open early in the week if you get there early. You guys need to experience a Pappy Burger.
-

Thanks Clint! I figured there would be something there later in the week but wanted to make sure. I'd have a couple of angry fellas if I didn't put enough in the cooler ;)
-
I think the concession stand opens of on Friday through Sunday, morning til evening.

Thanks, PatB
As much as I love cooking when we are camping, I have a bow to finish up too :BB Momma wants to have some fun
-
CJ,
Better to teach the "boys" how to cook for themselves (and you)! That way you can have more fun! I started learning when I was 8, messed up more than a few meal s along the way, but got pretty good!
Hawkdancer
-
Believe me, Momma, you'll have fun! :OK There will be enough food and generous folks making it throughout the Classic you may not have to cook much anyway. ;)
-
Yes Concession is open at 6am Friday till 10, then lunch from 11 till 5pm, Saturday 6am till 3pm, pot luck Saturday night and open Sunday from 6am till it's over. Be here before you know it. Got some sad new yesterday that Matt can't make it, had to much family things going on this year and don't have the time off, :( funny Work still counts vacation days ??? any way that being said they will be missed for sure, also if anyone has any bow blanks this would be a good time to bring what you have if you want to get rid of them, sell or trade they will be needed I am sure. Davy is bringing some and I am sure others will also. I may even dig into mine. See yall soon . ;)
Pappy
-
Hate to hear that. Always good to hang out with Matt and Heather. They will be missed.

Hawkdancer
Hawkdancer he does his own cooking here at home for breakfast and lunch. He will even cook dinner for us once in a while when asked. He needs to learn how to "camp cook" this summer. His Papa bought him a dutch oven for Christmas and he's looking forward to trying some things out here at home before he takes it on the road. ;) I just like to let him go off with his friends at the events.
Good to know that after Friday I'm off the hook for the most part. AND that Pappy burger sounds excellent!
Thanks everyone. I appreciate the info.
-
The campfire is always going and it has a set up for dutch over cooking or you can have a campfire at your tent.
-
I'm sad to hear Matt, Heather and Weewicki and Uncle Bob won't be there. :( Just won't be the same without them...but we'll suffer through it. ;)
-
As much as I love cooking when we are camping, I have a bow to finish up too :BB Momma wants to have some fun

You folks are gonna enjoy this gal and her family
We love her to death up here and you will to
-
Thanks so much Guy!
You have been such a great friend to us along the way. Who knew that the fella who walked up to my campfire 2 years ago at our first shoot would be such a game changer. I can't tell you how grateful I am for that Marshall Rendezvous flyer that you handed me and told me I might want to check it out.
-
Only a few more day, I will be out for a while so hope to see some of yall soon, I will be at the cabin from this Friday morning through the 6th of May so if you need me for anything call or text my cell, it is always on.615-456-5961.
Pappy
-
I'll be there a week from today. Can't wait to get there and see everyone. :OK Gonna miss some of the regulars though. :(
-
4 days for me. I put a fresh coat of weather sealant on my camper today. I'm hobbling around on one good leg trying to get everything ready and loaded. I was stringing a bow last night and the tip slipped off my foot and hit my calf. Now its swelled up real big and is very painful. I'm hoping it improves before I head to Pappy's.
-
Hope so also Clint, I always seem to hurt something just before the Classic >:( Pat same here but that happens every year, long trip for most and life happens so most can't make it every year, makes it even sweeter when they do show back up. Getting lots of calls from around the country so we should get to meet a lot of new folks which I really enjoy. Set up PA's tent last evening and the big one today, we had planned on not putting it up this year because of the new shed but got to many vendors and the big tent will handle the overflow and make my life a little easier to get them all in a good place. Got folks coming in tomorrow/Friday/Saturday and Sunday so should have a good crowd by the first of the week. After the rain tomorrow it looks like the weather is going to be good as of now, what a hoot it would be to have a Dry Classic :o ??? ;) :)
Pappy
-
Safe travels everyone. Wish I could be there. Have a little extra fun for me.
Bjrogg

We should be rolling in mid-afternoon on Saturday. Hoping to be out of here no later than 7 that morning. Super excited for our first year there. Finally looked it up on the map and it's only about 50 miles from where I used to live for a brief period in time.
Clint, I hope your leg heals up enough for you to enjoy yourself.
-
Hope ya'all have a dry week and a good time, outlook is fairly dry here "upstream" for the next week mostly, but some cooler wetter next week. What we get usually heads a bit north of TN, so hoping that happens again. Our Squirrel Shoot should dry this weekend, and even warm!
Hawkdancer
-
It’s been a coons age since I’ve been to the Classic but it looks like I’m going make it this year.
I hope there is room in the knapping pit
-
There's always room in the knapping pit. :KN :OK
-
Great new Tower, as Pat said always room. Yes Hawkdancer the weather is still looking good so far, you never know what the Good Lord has in store but for now it look better than it has in years. We manage the rain pretty good but would be nice to have a dry year for a change. ;) Headed out for Kitchen supplies this morning then to the farm Tomorrow to stay until it is over, so come on anytime, the gates are open.Don't this we are planing on the Thursday night Boil but we have a little something else special in mind for one of ours, several will know her ;) I will fill you in Pat and a few others that know her when you arrive. Can't wait !!!
Pappy
-
Pappy, it is with a heavy heart that I announce that I'm not going to make it this yr. First absence in probably 10 yrs. See ya next yr. Bob

Darn, Bob. Who will I look at wildflowers with. Sorry to hear you won't be making it this year. We'll miss you.

Life getting in the way again.....won't make it this year... Brian

You both will be missed for sure. :( Well it's time, headed that way in a little while, already got some in from WI. and more today and through the weekend, should be a fun week leading up to the Classic . :) See yall soon.

That wasn't mine Paul. I was told that was for medicinal purposes only
-
I'll be heading out in the morning. See y'all about noon. :OK
-
Well, if you got to take some medicine, it might as well be tasty! Ol' Rex looks like it works! Neat picture! I will likely bring some " allergy" nmedicine along to MoJam!

Just got home , finely got all them yankees and 1 red neck [james Parker] out of the hollow ;) :) :) :). Been a long week but a great time. Hope all had as good a time as I did. Thanks everyone for the turn out, 606 and if anyone is interested the scores are on out web sight [twinoaksbowhunters.org] I will have some pictures up in a day or 2 on Life is Good] Thanks again.
Pappy

Pappy, I love it, you throwing James in the same cart as a bunch of Yankees. That's okay we will fit him in some where. :D I had classic withdrawls all week, sure did miss being there. See ya next yr. Bob

Really missed you also Bob, was surprised to see RyanO though, really good to see him and his family again. ;)

I'm finally getting a chance to sit down and make a little post. WOW! what a wonderful time we had at the TN Classic. Thanks so much Pappy for welcoming us with open arms. It was great to finally put some faces with all of these names. I'd like to thank everyone for all of the help they gave me with my bow. I am looking forward to getting it finish sanded and shooting. This bow already has such a special place in my heart. To have so many talented people have a hand in it's making was truly a blessing. I'd start naming names but I would hate to leave someone out accidentally. But you all know who you are.
Thanks to all of you who spent time with Cahl also. He can't wait to come back again. It's hard to believe I had to twist his arm a bit and pretty much tell him we were going. Our MI Longbow Spring Shoot is the same weekend and he didn't want to miss it. But, next year, I don't think we will have that issue again. ;)
I learned so much this time. I think I'm beginning to feel a little more confident in my skills and can't wait to chase another ring. (maybe even a little quicker and more efficiently this time) My fear of the draw knife is getting less and less. I appreciate all of the knowledge that was given to me in the process and I'm still in awe of all of the exceptional talent that surrounded me during our stay.
I just can't say enough about our time at the TN Classic! Thank you all and we will see you all again somewhere soon.
~Coby
-
It was great to meet you and your family, Coby. Looking forward to seeing your bow finished. :OK
-
Great meeting you and you family Coby and glad you enjoyed, You have a great family and now yall are a part of ours. :) Thanks Cahl for helping out on the raffle drawing, much appreciated and yes I think you are getting the ring following down pat. See yall somewhere down the road. :)
