It has been awhile since I posted a bow, doesn't mean I haven't been making them. I finished this bow up a few days ago, not my usual style but I built it as the basis of an article for PA. It is essentially a board bow, even though some of the "boards" were made by me. I was quite impressed at the way this bow turned out and after shooting it I am even more impressed. It is fast, for a straight limb bow, and shoots quite well. It has a ERC belly, BC core and Maple backing. I glued the bow up with about 2 1/2" of reflex and it maintains a bit over 1" after shooting it some. The bow is an ALB 68" long with 1 1/8" wide shallow D section limbs that taper to 3/8" nocks. The bow pulls 55# @ 28". Occasionally I like to shoot left handed and the number of left hand bows at my disposal are very few so I made this bow as a left hand bow, which now make 2. Here are some pictures

Really nice!

I bet that bow is super light, It surly must have good cast. Great tiller but we would expect no less from you.
-
gorgeous bow!

Hi Marc,
Very classy bow...looks like quite a shooter! (BTW: Cold down here this year!)

Maybe not perfect, but as close as one can get in my book. Nice!
-
AWESOME! very inspiring.
-
ERC sure does seem to have a soft spot in her heart for you. I always love those nocks too. Very nice. I bet it smells as good as it looks, :).
-
Very nice, tiller is incredible, guess I'll get there some day.
-
Now that's a bow that beckons "shoot me,and don't set me down" ....love the smootheness, cast, and sweet release of ERC....I couldn't put the one I just made down earlier today shooting it...nothing like a good ole ALB..hard to beat IMO....I glued up a white oak backed ERC blank a few weeks ago and need to finish it up...this might've released the lack of motivation I've had the last couple weeks to finish a bow ;)
-
Awesome combination of woods. That looks like one of those bows that are so much fun to build, you almost hate to have it finished! Beautiful bow.
-
That is a beauty! Love the looks of cedar.
-
Thank you guys. Shooting left hand is not something I do often but it certainly is interesting when I do. My first shot with it was practically dead center of the gold
-
Beautiful riser, perfect tiller...Looks like a smoooooth shooter...

Beautiful riser, perfect tiller...Looks like a smoooooth shooter...
Thanks Donald
Riser, handle, I prefer handle. Riser to me suggests a glass bow, yuck
-
erc just screams beautiful bow...just a fine looking bow..awesome as usual!
-
Wow mark. That is some serious quality to aspire to, all around. The tiller the finish work everything. Spot on. Thanks for posting
-
That is a beautiful bend. I really like your version of a cut in pass, very elegant.
-
Thanks guys.
With this style of arrow pass, and the leather shelf I glue into it, I can set the bow up as if it is shooting off the hand.
-
Hi Marc,
Very classy bow...looks like quite a shooter! (BTW: Cold down here this year!)

Hi Rand
I guess you are getting the tail end of our cold snap, we are going to get -30's as overnight lows this week.
Are you still shooting that recurve I made you?
-
Nice looking bow Marc. Id recognize your bows a kilometer away.
-
Very nice Marc...Maple backed red cedar is a fine combo! :)
-
Thanks guys. I am quite pleased with this bow. If it wasn't so bloody cold outside I would shoot it some more
-
Same cold front here!I've shot bbe in this weather,is there a breaking point. Where a. Bow will fail in -30's. ?self/lam?
-
It's not the cold that will break a bow. It's the drying out of the wood from repeated exposure to the cold, which tends to dry out wood by itself, then bringing the bow back in to the warm dry air of the house.
I was Deer hunting with an Elm recurve many years ago and it was a particularly cold Fall. After a week of this cold/warm cycle the back of the bow failed in tension as I was exercising it on my stand.
-
That's a really beautiful combination and a beautiful build. Really nice bow!
-
Very nice Mark :) we wouldn't expect anything less from you sir! Thanks for sharing :)
-
Great lookin bow Marc! Looks like a smooth shooter.
-
Thanks guys.
-
Very nice, love everything about it, except that it's not flinging my arrows ;)
-
Like it a lot. Must be fast with 50+# and this kind of reflex. Perfect tiller. :)
-
Thanks again for all the complimets
-
Your work always blows me away Marc!
-
good tiller. love the handle
-

-
Thanks again
A bandsaw and seasoned staves is how I made boards
