Any comments welcome.

I sure don't notice any functional difference from 2 to 3. I just like to add a little color with the third strand and I guess it would be more round than 2. As for shooting them, I can't tell any diffference.

I've made both, and don't really see any difference, except that you get a bigger mess to untangle while you're twisting with three lays, and one more bundle for the cat to attack. :)

I think tree layer strings fit the Nocks better....and feel better on the Fingertips too....other than making a rounder string though....I see no advantages besides comfort....JMO

I make mine with very little twist so it doesn't really matter. They all kind of blend together. Justin

Well I've always made 3 lays, but made some 2's last night.I can't see any difference myself, other than making them faster.Curious as to what you guys thought.

Ok,now how about strand counts? Been shooting FF plus as of late,so what is  yalls take on it?

Never tried FF. My norm is 14 strands of B-50 with a two-lay string or 15 with a 3-lay.

Went to ff plus last year, mainly because of no stretch. A bit more noise than b-50, but a lil more velocity. Been running 12 strand on bows under 55# Not sure if that pushing it or not,so figured I would get some imput form some of you fellers.

Timo....I think the single strand breaking strength for FF+ is like 93 PSI...and the new S75 by Brownell is like 125 PSI.... so I would think that 12 would be good....15 would be better!!

i made my first string last night using a flemish jig.the string is exactly the same length as my existing string but when i string the bow there is like no brace height does a new string need to be stretched in or something??

Yep. Just twist it up some after it stretches.

I always make my Strings...and then tie a 10 pound Dumbbell to the end and let it hang for a Day to pull the Stretch out of it.....then Tie the final Flemish Eye....or leave me a Rat Tail for a Bowyers knot...

I make both as well, but the last year or so,I build most of mine with b-50,that is red, yellow, and black. It kinda looks like a coral snake.  ;D   God Bless

I have done both 2 and 3 and I like the color mix with the 3 but the extra hassle is not worth it to me, so I will most likely do 2's from here on out. I stretch mine with a 25lb weight as well. If I could just learn to tie the other end as a closed loop I would be happy, but so far I haven't applied my brain to learning that part yet.   Danny

I like B-50 and a 2 twist. Never tried either FF or 3 twist. 14 strands for bows up to 60# and 12 strands for bows 40# and down.   If you put enough twists in your strings, you can't tell the diff between 2 and 3 lays. ;D
