Hello,
I finished this bow last october and since then it s one of my favourite bows, smooth to draw and very fast. I treated it with a selfmade sandalwood stain, which combines very well with black locust in my opinion
Some facts about the bow:
Lenght: 63"
Weight: 15oz
Drawweight: 40lbs@28"
Finish: Sandalwood-stain, shellac, boiled linseed oil

Beautiful job!

Lovely, like the horn on the curves! Why does that look yellow like Osage is that dyed or a normal color of BL?
-
Oh wow! Very nice!

Sweet looking bow

Classy details. I really like it.

Nice looking bow !!!! I need to work with some more black locust.... It's great..
-
I love that bow!
-
Thank you for the kind comments!
@ Pat B: I think it s definitly worth a shot. Since I dont have (cheap) access to osage, it is my best alternative. In my experience, (very) good black locust can at least compete with average osage. It is a little bit problematic regarding compressing, but I have never had any problems with a flat or oval belly.
@240m3srt: I treated it with stain (sandalwood), which turned it a little bit into red. Without the stain, black locust looks even more yellow. In generell it looks very similair to osage.

I wouldn't mind having that beauty hanging on my bow rack - excellent craftsmanship !

Locust has always been my nemesis but maybe I should try it again.
That's wild. BL is my highest success rate wood. The one where, given even a decent stave I don't kill somehow between log and floor tiller, I know I'm making a bow.
Very nice bow, Jonah. Fantastic tiller, and she positively gleams.
