Hi there,
I have followed the Primitive Archer forum for years, now it is time to contribute some results.
This bow I made using bamboo and hardwood is called a South Indian. A design ‘re-invented’ by Jaap Koppedrayer. As many will know, one of the best traditional bowmakers out there. I learned a lot from him, how to make these bows and owe him a big thanks. He grows his own bamboo specifically for bowmaking and you can get it for your own projects. This bow is made using his bamboo.
This South Indian bow draws 53# at 27″. The bow is 64 inches long and has bamboo on both sides with a core of rosewood and bamboo strips. The nocks are buffalo horn to get a clean and long lasting result.
The bow has a leather handle with stingray arrowpass and a dyneema string. It shoots 180 fps with 10 grain per pound arrows. I have gone down to 6.8 grain per pound, shooting 202fps. Comfortable shooter with lightweight tips. Fast and still pretty.
Thanks for reading!

Got to agree, that's one hell of a nice bow.
I really like the attention to detail of the finishing, and trim, which are often neglected by many bowyers.

Thanks guys! It is almost like fiberglass bows, get the right taper, shape and profile so you need very little work for tillering.

Beautiful bow, great work.

How did you do the reflexed handle? Is the core shaped and the laminations bent around it, or are all the laminations flexible and the clamping/form dictates the shape?
-
That is just lovely!
