This was the result of too much pressure on the lever with a Solberger jig

I wish I knew what causes some flutes to be so wavy like that while others come off extremely smooth and flat

Maybe your getting a little close to the edge there 1442.lol. You sure do push it to the limit sir. Still just impressive even looking at one that bit the dust.
That is a good question. Maybe something with the way the shockwaves build up?

I kept working the big piece and swapped ends on it

second flute come off a little too thin so the whole thing turned out a little too thick for a folsum,

here's another one
this one the flute dove through about the same distance from the tip on both sides. I must have hit the repeat button by mistake on the second one.
I really think the tip end was too thick, not enough taper to the tip to get the flute thinner as it goes toward the tip. :-\
