That is absolutely beautiful.  Awesome knife.  What kind of stone is that?

This was a sawed slab of some kind of brick from Tennessee. The Gentleman that was at Pappy's Classic last year, selling points and slabs, gave me 5 precut slabs that were too hard for him to knap. I heat treated them 3 times at 550 dgs, it was still a brick. I gave one to Claude when he was going to pit fire a bunch of stuff and he said he cooked it at 800+ and it was just right. Well he chipped the point out and gave it to me and I mounted it in a piece of Birdseye Maple I got from Brian Melton. It's wrapped with some Ostrich sinew I got from Marc a few years ago also. I guess I trade a lot/ ;)

Very cool knife, Eddie. Is that blade a traditional/historical shape?

Pat, I think so, Claude told me it was shaped like some style , but I forgot what it was. I got it from the older Gentleman under the tent with Becca at Pappy's , if you remember him.

No, just kidding, Pete. It's a chert from Tenn. It just looks like brick and chipped like brick till it got heat treated to 800dgs+.

Is that the same stuff they hauled into Pappy's last year?

No, it came from that older gentleman under the tent next to where James Parker was set up. It was already slabbed and precut to shape.

Nice!  So is the Wife slicing tomatoes with it?  Gonna carve the Christmas Dinner with it?  Is that anything like the brick stuff you gave me?  Tell Claude that is really nice work.  Nice combo with the Bird's eye maple.
