Here's a couple of laminates I've built over the long winter months here in Wisconsin. The R/D bow is hickory backed Red Oak with Walnut tip and handle overlays. 61" ntn just under 50# with 26" of pull. There was a small chip in the oak in the lower limb that I covered with rawhide and wrapped with thread just to be safe. I really like how this bow shoots and although it has lost some reflex, it's still smooth to draw, fast, and whisper quiet. It is finished with a Red Mohogany stain and tung/tru oil finish.
The Second bow is a takedown that features a Walnut riser, Red Birch and red gun limbs that I picked up at a local cabinet makers shop. It has bamboo tip overlays and a tung/tru oil finish. 35# at 26" of pull and a "fun to shoot" kind of feel to it. Tips are 1/2" on each bow to 1-5/8 at the fades. The takedown is put together with 3/8" x 2" bolts and set screws like Marc St. Louis bow in the 2005 PA holiday issue.
Thanks for looking!
