Might anyone know if Trueoil will work to seal my jute string handle and should I first adhere it to the bow with something first?
thanks, nick

I believe that Manny soaks his jute handles in TB2 glue. Seems like that would work really well.
-
thanks Gordon, I might just have to give that a try. Wonder if TB2 is compatible with trueoil though
-
There is really no need to apply Tru-Oil over the handle if you treated it with TB.

Massey finish works well, as does spar varnish both will lock the wrap down and weatherize it :)
Massey finish is 2 part epoxy thinned with acetone.
-
If the jute was soaked in TB glue it is already weatherproof.

Servicebeary, wouldn't mind to see a pic of your handle

hmm, so many glues, so little time.. thanks all for all the info. No problem Dragon, I'll post my handle as soon as I put the hemp on it. I just posted my bow last night under "first bow, finally" as well.

didn't realize you hadn't done it yet .

SB, I just got done using Jute on an Osag for a handle wrap. I used clear poly to seal it with turned out real nice.
I'm going to post picture of it in Feb. ;) :D

sweet, I'll look forward to that. So you just soaked it ehh?

I put some true oil on some dogbane worked pretty well, after i put it on I thought about how Linseed oil combust in rags but it didnt burn my bow. :)

When I first started using cord wrapped handles I set them(and sealed them) in TBII glue. It was great until my sweaty hands got on them and the TB glue got sticky. I've been using Massey finish lately and have no problems with it.
