Can anyone point me in the right direction? I`m looking to make my own Timber Hitch String for a Ash Board Longbow 68" end to end. I`ve yet to complete tillering, i aim to end with around 55# to 60# @ 28" .
I have looked at finished T/H strings online with prices around $15.00, but thought more about learning to make them myself.
This would be my first attempt at string making I woundered if there was a site or some write up explaning making T/Hitch strings? Secondly my bow is not flemish compatable so I asume Dacron string would be required, which type and how much would I need 1/4# or 1#?
Also I have design plans for self build double loop and flemish string jigs, do I need to build one or the other, or do T/Hitch strings use another type of jig?
Many Thanks.
Darren.

Google flemish bow string and you'll probably find all the info you need after a little searching. You don't need a string jig, I've never used one. Then again, I frequently end up with strings that are too long or too short and have to re-do the last loop a coupla times before its right.
Here's a link to how to tie a timber hitch if ya need it:

One of our guys has done a vid and It is good. I just cant remember his name but he is plum primitive. His string making vid is pretty good. Also the same jig but I make em a little longer for the bow knot.Just can remember his handle right now.I'll remember it.

don't understand what you mean about NOT flemish compatible. Lot's of folks don't bother with double loop, and do the bowyers knot on the lower limb like I have been doing. I got a 1/4# spool and figure it will make alot of strings. I found at least three videos and another half dozen tutorials, some with jig designs. also try leatherwall site. Here are three I saved. Best to check out several as one may hit the spot with you. I think all of them showed the bowyers knot. OR... google 'timber hitch' and do the pictures...
